A post in this community is long overdue, especially because according te @hivecreators, it's one the top three communities where I post the most!
Philippines is where my most recent travel memories lie, but I would say that although fresh, they still qualify for a #monomad challenge; they feel like a lifetime ago, instead of less than one month!
Paradise beaches, together with warm weather and warm clear waters, are enough to bring joy to almost anyone, especially coming from the cold winter; but the country is much more than that! Friendly people, that seemed to enjoy contemplating the gourgeous landscapes as much as I did.
The limestone cliffs covered in vegetation, everpresent in some of the locations I've visited, were a great reminder that mother nature was just around the corner, even in the middle of the villages: you just had to look up and there they were, towering above the highest buildings.
I even miss the busy streets and the cool tricycles that were everywhere; kind of noisy, but definitely a reliable (and cheap!) means of transportation.
But of course, some of my fondest memories... are from wildlife, what else? Unfortunately, most of them are only lodged in my head, since a good part of them where brief encounters, too fast to get a camera. The endemic hornbill of Palawan was one of them, and the one I regret not having a photo the most. Fortunately, our scaly friends are little more chill, and although I saw far less species than I would have wished, can't complain of the models I've found.
Funny to think that his head alone is bigger than the vast majority of the reptiles I can see in my home country! It would be great to have some monitor lizards here; seeing the good side, not having them here is a good reason to visit the countries where they are!
Oh well, nothing left but to remember. After all, isn't that one of the great things about travelling, creating fond memories? :)
