Early evenings offer plenty of opportunities for some black and white photography.
Now that it gets dark before I’m even done working, I had to replace my walks in the nature with city strolls. The old part of town is my favorite place for that.
The streets smell of roasted chestnuts and the people are meeting for drinks indoors again. I don’t want to jinx it but it looks like the bars and concert venues will remain open this season.
A few days ago I attended another gig, this time it was a Slovenian chanson singer. He’s now 79 and I thought noone listens to him anymore but he still filled up the venue.
He has an incredible vocal technique but most of all I enjoyed listening to the anecdotes he told about his life. It makes you understand how very few people had the privilege to be a successful international musician in the days of former Yugoslavia and how different their life was from the average citizen in the 60’s of the past century.
He said he once visited a friend who was a British acress and won an Oscar for a role in a movie where he co-starred, and while most celebrities would probably proudly put the Oscar on a shelf for everyone to see, she used the statuette to crack walnuts.
Today, the world is much smaller. Everyone can be a celebrity in their little bubble. The social media made it so easy. But it still takes a lot of talent and hard work to break out of mediocrity.

Thanks :) It was Lado Leskovar, I think everyone here knows the name but few actually listen to him.
Cool!! His music is just a bit too ‘old school’ that we’d be listening to it when we were younger. Now I feel I’d experience his performance with a different, more appreciative perspective.
