30 Minute Stroll - Monomad Challenge

in Black And White3 years ago

Hail to the Hive!

Well today I felt a little flat. Maybe it was after all the excitement of crossing the big aqueducts or maybe it was just ine of those days when you feel a little…..flat. I also couldn’t motivate myself to do anything. Inwas sinking into procrastination land and I didn’t want to go there!

I was stumped ( pun intended see image below ) and was staring out the window. @millycf1976 was obviously busy as I could hear the key strokes on her keyboard in the other room ( the other half of the boat).

I decided doing anything right now would be positive. Anything at all so with no plan I just threw on my boots, hat and coat and went for a stroll down the canal. I decided very quickly to walk away from town just to do something different.

Within 5 minutes the countryside opened up and a beautiful view of the valley unfolded on my right. The River Dee winding its way through the landscape below. My lungs filled with fresh air, my mind felt sharper, I started to feel sharper, more positive. This was good.

I continued along the canal for another 10 minutes and then turned to get back to Badger the Narrowboat. There was a fresh coolness to the breeze and dark clouds headed in our direction. Rain was imminent but I was confident I’d beat it and get back to the boat before the clouds could release their payload.

Within minutes I was back. I’d beat the rain and I felt good. What a massive difference 30 minutes can make to your mindset. I am lucky to have beautiful surroundings but the lesson is, do something. Anything just snap out of it when the procrastination melancholy moods strike.

Yeah there are days and days. And it happens to all of us. But it is good that you were able to work on it and get over it.

Yup I hate those days. They just creep up on you and slap you without warning. Wish I had room on the boat to store a punch bag. Thats the only thing I really miss from when we were in the Philippines

That's a great lesson - the longer we let such feelings reign, the worse it gets. We can control it.

so true. needed to drag myself into the here and now. 10 minutes of anything can change your mindset. I miss my punch bag, that was the best solution!

Why not set up something detachable on board?

!ALIVE !PIZZA

I had a punchbag with base and I have been looking into something similar. Ptoblem living on a boat is storage but I am strongly considering it as it was the best exercise body and mind

Is there any way it could serve another use when you don't have it out?

not on the boat really. Maybe the base would be useful ballast in the bow but our boat is small the bag itself would have to be stored on the roof

Would it take up space needed for something else?

really bright and beautiful pictures, very good!
