Boat Yard - Monomad Challenge

in Black And White4 years ago

Hail to the Hive!

As I have mentioned before I do like to go for a bit of a wander when we moor up of an evening and it's always a dilemma which way to walk. The way we are traveling or just back where we have been.

Today I walked towards where we will be heading tomorrow and stumbled across a boatyard of old and in much need of repair canal boats.

The narrowboaters affectianately refer to the plastic boats as 'Yogurt Pots' and there were plent here past their sell by date.

A few were moored side by side making it quite difficult to see the array of other boat and non boat related 'stuff' piled up all around. i'd love to be able to get permission to have a dig around. Maybe i should go and ask tomorrow?

With a little care and attention and a bit of money invested these could be traveling the canal network giving a lot of pleasure to someone. Seems a shame to see so many rotting like this.

Anyone fancy buying a boat?

I've seen a few car graveyards and even a fire engine graveyard, but never a boat one. It just makes you wonder why it all started. Shame they can't get them back on the canal.
