Hail to the Hive!
For the past week or so we have been getting a new Engine Installed into Badger the Narrowboat and have been moored at a boatyard that is both residential and also busy lifting boats in and out for work to be done.
I do love a good wander around a boatyard. Always something interesting.
Just behind our boat they have a 50 year old JCB just sitting there. Looks amazing for it’s age ( a bit like me really 😉) and apparently still works, starts up fine and is used on site occasionally.

As I was chatting to the boatyard owner about it I couldn’t help notice it had all the characteristics that would make it a superb #monomad model. So I had her pose for me.

Considering she’s been left out in all British weather for 50 years she looks pretty damned good, they sure don’t make em like they used to eh!
It’s quite a juxtaposition with a working boatyard behind us with big machines and the canal separating us from farmland and countryside on the other side.

I like the contrast. The ying and yang, the chalk and cheese, the beauty and the beast.
Just nothing like a vintage backhoe to add legitimacy to a boat yard, I always say. :)

My brother has a Case about that vintage sitting in his driveway. He leaves it there to take care of household chores :) When I was there this summer he needed to put in an overflow drain for his water tank. Took him about 2 cups of coffee with me watching...
I am on my second flask of coffee this morning haha. Proper addict.

There is a loaded question if I ever heard one. (Hi Cameron)
I knew my HVAC system, at least what was under the house (furnace, and ducts) were old, quite old, so I decided to break down and get the whole thing replaced before cold weather got here.
Guy came last Fri, gave me a quote for (wait....tick tock)$7.900.00 USD to replace it all, AND they would be putting in returns that would make the airflow better, including one outside my bedroom door.
More guys came yesterday and did the biggest part under the house, but said that due to the construction and the cramped space, they would not be able to put in a return back here.
Then after it was all installed, the main guy came in (12 hrs after arriving) to say that the "TXP" was defective and would have to be replaced today.
Then today, another guy shows up, does his thang, says it isn't the TXP, and now we are waiting for HIS supervisor and a NEW COIL to arrive.
And through all this, I will still not have an adequately heated/cooled bedroom.
So I guess I would say it isn't coming along too well right now @scubahead
Bit like my boat. I feel ya pain bro. BUT we will both end up better off down the line. My new engine install revealed a few other things that needed sorting. So happy I rectified a few other issues at the same time.
Your boat engine is more to you than my AC is to me, yours is your home AND your transportation.
This saga is almost done now, I'll be making a post about this shortly, and since they will have to come back AGAIN to run a larger duct back here, I may have to make an edit, or a follow on post about it.

isn't it amazing, taking photos of a seemingly everyday item, often found in the most mundane settings and many times, never even really noticed?
Change the light? Change the angle, get down low and shoot up, or, get up high, and see the item in an entirely new way! It's why I love shooting.
