Old Pointy Buildings - Monomad Challenge

Hail to the Hive!

Today has been an eventful day to say the least most of which was spent wandering around the Pyramids in Giza and also riding camels, as you do.

Tired but extremely happy and reviewing hundreds of photographs and sifting through them as I sit overlooking the ancient view sipping on Egyptian beer. A damned good day and I’m sure the Pharaoh Khufu would approve.

Both @millycf1976 and I gathered so much material today I just didn’t know where to start but I then thought what better place to exibit some old stone than in #monomad. Got to be done.

So I’ve pulled out a few of the pointy building pictures that I had a mind for black and white for and here we are.

So much has been written about these structures and so much has still to be learned about them which comes as no surprise when you gaze upon them with your own eyes. I mean 2.3 million stone blocks to build the Knufu Pyramid. 2.3 million! Boggles my tiny mind.

It is an incredibly popular site to visit so we made sure and get there early. We met a soanish dude over coffee just beforehand and the 3 of us were the first three to enter the site today. Result! As we came down 4 hours later it was a human zoo. I am tempted to pop back in again tomorrow morning as it was pretty amazing with nobody about.

But for now, more beer

You had me at wandering around the pyramids on camels!

The contrast and texture in those photos really add to the power. The dark fade to the edges even more so.

Awesome to see you are having fun in your adventure and bringing us with you again!

Wait till you see @millycf1976 standing on a camel, thats right…standing!

?!?!

I think I will subscribe to your newsletter to see that one!

We've found that the best plan of action when visiting new places and sites: get there first or visit during the week, as most tourists visit in the weekends. We arrived around 6 or 7 in the morning one day at a spot and immediately took a few pictures before going to our lodging. Bet choice!

Absolutely and we specifically booked our hotel for its proximity. Zero travel time in the morning!

That's also a criterium for us, because we mostly make use of our legs for travel 🤣. Sometimes public transport if the place is a bit farther.

Pyramids and black & white, a match made in heaven, 100%!

Absolutely. Had to be done. I have tons of images to sift through from this trip. Which is a good thing

Good job!
As we all know the pyramids are shrouded in mystery, starting with their proportions and ending with understanding how human beings, without the mechanical aids we have now, were able to move those stone blocks.
Here, your black and white photos exponentially increase this aura of mystery and fascination!
Yes, I confirm, a great job!

Many thanks @mikezillo . They are pretty good models to,work with for photography too

!BEER

Indeed.

Have you found the Stargate yet?

Keep expecting to see a Goa’uld 😃

Cheers!

Once I heard, stones were cast into their form at that time, so that they interlock in a way that is quake-proof. All the school knowledge I had been stuffed with before then crumbled to dust. It had been just another brick in the wall.
