Returning to Magical Foxton - Monomad Challenge

Hail to the Hive!

Yessss, we are back off grid. Dailyu cruising through good weather and bad. Different mooring every night, fresh views and freedom.

We do appreciate being able to use our little base in the Fazeley area when we need to but there’s something special about being back to nomadic, back to the freedom the ‘cut’ gives you. The freedom to roam, pitch up where you want, move. When you want and plan to go where you want. it’s bliss.

We’ve decidied to head back into Leicestershire and back to the Foxton/ Market harborough area and these shots are from the final approach to just before you arrive at Foxton Locks.

It’s an elevated section of the canal which can give you some splendid views over the Leicestershire countryside and eventually brings you to the top of the 10 locks that would then bring you down 23 meters (75 feet) to the junction of where the Market Harborough canal arm meets the leicester line of the Grand Union canal. It’s a lovely stretch of canal with some absolutely gorgeous places to moor up.

And as it’s winter with the trees all naked, lacking their foliage, it has an all together different vibe than when it is all lush in the summer. A cold beauty but still beautiful.

I think the trees look striking in this guise. Quite dramatic in fact. I was steering the boat and twisting my body around to grab these passing shots of this big fella.

The naked branches spanning over the canal with clear winter skies with a smattering of cloud as a back drop made for a wonderful view above as we passed underneath.

And after mooring up a night in a lovely spot, just before the entrance to Foxton locks proper, we awoke to a misty , atmospheric morning full of mysterious foggy vibes. A lovely view to behold while slurping our morning coffee and a scoffing down a spot of breakfast. magical really.

So glad to be back out and roaming free once more.

These are the special moments in life that it’s important to drink in and realise, this is what living is all about. The enjoyment of life and the enjoyment of being, doing, and living.

Take a moment to realise you are in the here and now! Drink it up and breathe it in. You’ll not regret these moments. They enrich you.

Love a bit of #monomad 😜

You've just reminded me how fabulous it is down there - I must visit again! Is there anywhere you can get a breakfast? I love being out in the early light, especially when it's crisp and misty. Lovely!

Hey @shanibeer 😃. At the top of the locs there is a fafe where you can buy the usual breafasty fare bacon baps, sausage baps etc. muffins, coffee etc. theres 2 pubs at the bottom also. Foxton locks is pretty awesome. One of my fave places

Fresh coffee is good, I might bring a pack up otherwise 😍.
Are you still there or have you moved on?
