Hail to the Hive!
I felt a cool freshness in the breeze and could almost taste the rain. A quick glance outside though and it looked bright and sunny. I had a hunch there was a storm newrby so quickly packed my drone into m travel/ammo shoulder bag and climbed onto the roof.
Yup, I was right. A storm alright but it looked as though it would pass by just tomthe west of the housing scheme. I quickly set up and launched the bird and set it off in the direction of the storm, just to get a little closer. Storm chasing!
At about 1.5km away I felt I was close enough. Weirdly I could feel a few drops 💦 landing on me even though there were no clouds directly above, just blue sky and white fluffy clouds. I snapped away altering angles and repositioning the drone a few hundred meters in anoother direction to try and get as much variety as possible as the storm clouds dumped their payload on the mountains in the distance. Are they mountains? Big hills? Not sure. I’ll stick with mountains.
The wind must have picked up a bit as I began to get warning ⚠️ messages about navigating home in the wind, to reduce altitude and make my way home manually. Hmm don’t like the sound of that. Just a couple more shots first. That’s when the lag appeared between me asking the drone to do something and it actually doing it….. ok lets get the bird home.
It was worth the little heart in. Outh moment with the warnings about wind as the shits were pretty cool. Within 20 minutes the storm was completely past us and the skies returned to tropical sun and white fluffy clouds again.
A near miss…..
You did very well. The sky and the clouds and the moving storm have given them a beautiful effect. Fantastic
Thanks @azamsohrabi 😃. I love that effect where you can see nature doing its thing in an isolated area. It’s a great perspective
