Hail to the Hive!
Well after about 6 hours of chugging along making our way back into some very familiar canal territory, after our Welsh Canal adventure, I had my eys on the lookout for a good spot to moor up, have a beer & watch the sun go down. It was just after 4:30pm (four thirsty on the beer drinking clock) when I spied this lovely little place.
If memory serves me well I think we stayed here a year ago on the 2nd night of our first ever cruise. We had just flown back to the UK, from the Philippines,spent 10 days on the boat in quarantine and then set off. Feels kind of nice,a year later,retracing our narrowboat chugging steps.
The sun has been playing peek a boo all day behind the moody clouds,and has been very unreliable,so I’ve given up on a good sunset. So it will be me and a beer and some ducks for company on the canal bank. I have to say It could certainly be worse. Don’t you think?
As temporary places to stay go this will certainly do! Quiet, peaceful,beautiful. Ticks all the right boxes.

The sunsets are always a magical time, really better with a cold beer sitting and relaxing.
You can tie up just about anywhere along the canals? Are there places with some type of mooring available onshore or do you say drive in an anchor on the shore to tie off too?
You can pretty much moor up anywhere except if theres a sign saying not to. We have chains that wrap around the metal armco that we can tie onto as well as hooks. Sometimes there are metal mooring rings in some places. In more rural wild places we have staking pins we hammer into the ground to then tie up to. So it’s basically 2000 miles of free floating campsite!

Depends haha. Sometimes you arrive at a popular spot and all the mooring slaces are taken. Some canal sides are too shallow to pull up to
Well, sometimes everything is not perfect!
Still, it sounds like it is great fun just traveling the canals.
