14 YEARS OLD SELF

Yes, this is an auto-portrait I took 14 years ago. It's weird to know that this picture is from over a decade ago...Yet looking at it makes it feel like it could have been taken just a few days ago. Time is increasing speed as I go on existing, overcoming, changing, growing, living, and just being.

Time stops in a picture. This picture will become older, depending on what form this photograph exists, it may even deteriorate, get wrinkly and possibly have it's little death too. Yet, this version of me never changes, never ages. It is stuck in time. Yes, you've caught a tiny tangible glimpse of yourself from the past, which seems rather magical, and yet time bending too. You could almost call it time-travel in a different sense of shape and form.

I often appreciate looking at photographs of myself and other's from the past, it's something that makes you reflect on how much you've grown, changed, and how much you've seen and felt. It again, just teleports you back to that space and time. I find it truly beautiful how photographs/graphy can give you such depth of reflection, understanding and most importantly meaning..

SO,I thought it might be nice to share this particular photograph because, back then, my 14 year old self, was at an interesting place in her life. I was very much immeresed into photography, and I was also very interested in fashion...

So, I took a lot of experimental auto-portraits, and all in all I was in awe with photography, so for this photograph, I remember turning of almost all of my lights in my room, and used the flash to create good lighting. As my outfit kind of looked like from something from the ''1950's'' I just envisioned the photograph having to be black and white. So, this particular photograph was specifically picked because my 14 year old self was pretty proud of how the picture came out and my 26 year old present self is even prouder now because, that 14 year old was enjoying her sparks of creativity with all her heart.

Over the years that spark has kind of dimmed down. It feels like nothing more than just a little flame of a tealight (haha).. However,

.............
THE BUTTERFLY

We may be all future butterflies still trying to get out of that dark, tight cocoon. This photograph I took around the time I had taken my auto-portrait, so this one's also about 14 years old...This butterfly had made it out of his cocoon, probably struggled a lot, yet overcame anything until it took flight again and is immersed into a world of limitless possibilities!

Over the years that spark has kind of dimmed down. It feels like nothing more than just a little flame of a tealight (haha)..SO A LITTLE NUDGE TO ANYONE STRUGGLING ON THEIR CREATIVE ARTISTIC PATH- SPRINKLE SOME CREATIVITY INTO YOUR LIFE AGAIN IF YOU THINK YOU LOST IT (newsflash: you never have). (YOU'RE ALWAYS KIND OF CREATING SOMETHING, I guess?) ... Like is just created this post for you ;).
