It comes from the family Malvaceae and is a cousin of Hibiscus. : In general, some parts of mallow family plants, like leaves and flowers, can be consumed. They might be added to salads, soups, or teas. However, this beauty is not only edible but also healthy. Their mucilaginous properties help relieve coughs and sore throats, they may soothe digestive issues by forming a protective layer over the stomach lining and even help with skin irritations.
This one is number one when it comes to flu or common cold. It is echinacea which is widely known for reducing the duration and severity of cold and flu symptoms. It is believed to stimulate the immune system, making it more effective in fighting off infections. Echinacea is also rich in antioxidants, which help neutralize free radicals, protecting cells from oxidative stress and reducing the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and cancer. On top of that, it helps with healing wounds and managing anxiety.
Verbascum thapsus, commonly known as mullein, is a biennial herb that has been used in traditional medicine for centuries. It's known for its tall, woolly leaves and yellow flowers. Mullein has a variety of health benefits, mainly related to its respiratory, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. This makes it beneficial for conditions like joint pain, arthritis, and other inflammatory disorders
Last but not least, Artichoke (Cynara scolymus). Artichoke extract has been used traditionally to promote liver health by stimulating bile production, which helps detoxify the liver and improve digestion. Some studies suggest that artichoke leaf extract can help alleviate symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), including abdominal pain, bloating, and irregular bowel movements.
