Hello my Hive friends, for today's black and white theme I am choosing another castle. "What is with this lad and castles", right? Well, I found them amusing, photogenic and hmmm special. These are true art forms in an architectural sense. Arches, thick walls, giant doors, wooden details and immersive art... are the things that get to me every single time. Today, I am sharing with you Ptuj Castle, nestled atop a hill overlooking the picturesque town of Ptuj.
The origins of Ptuj Castle date back to the medieval era, with the first recorded mention in the 12th century. Over the centuries, the castle underwent numerous transformations, reflecting the changing architectural styles and the hands of various noble families that held sway in the region. Today, the castle stands as a captivating blend of Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance influences, a living testament to the passage of time.
The castle's architecture, with its sturdy towers and imposing facades, evokes a sense of grandeur that transports visitors to a time when knights roamed the lands and lords held court within its halls.
Ptuj Castle is not just a silent witness to history; it is an active participant in the cultural life of the town. The castle hosts various events, including concerts, medieval reenactments, and art exhibitions, breathing life into its ancient stones and offering visitors a chance to experience the castle as more than a static monument.
The castle stands not only as a symbol of Ptuj's past but also as a bridge connecting generations, inviting visitors to step back in time and savor the magic of this enchanting Slovenian landmark.
If you have a chance go and visit this hidden gem. Ptuj is outstanding especially when the time of carnival comes. Hardly recommended!
