Power of Nature

in Black And White2 years ago

Hello and welcome back to all #monomad fans and all Hivers who are on the look for nice black and whites. Today's topic is "power of nature". I am always amazed when I see where plants can grow and how they claim back their territory. How come you can see a plant growing out of concrete? While it may seem unlikely for plants to grow out of concrete, there are a few mechanisms through which it can occur. Here are some possible ways in which plants can grow in concrete.

Seeds Finding Cracks: Seeds, carried by wind or animals, can find their way into tiny cracks or gaps in concrete structures. If the seed finds a suitable environment with enough moisture and nutrients, it can germinate and grow into a plant.

Accumulation of Organic Matter: Over time, organic matter such as leaves, twigs, or bird droppings can accumulate in the crevices or on the surface of concrete. This organic matter can provide nutrients and create a thin layer of soil, allowing plants to take root and grow.

Nutrient Seepage: If there are nearby sources of nutrients, such as fertilized soil or wastewater, they can seep into the concrete and provide the necessary nutrients for plants to grow. Moisture from rain or irrigation can also carry nutrients into the concrete, supporting plant growth.

Microorganisms Breaking Down Concrete: Certain microorganisms, like bacteria and fungi, have the ability to break down concrete over an extended period. As they do so, they release nutrients that can support plant growth. These microorganisms may come from the surrounding environment or be introduced through bird droppings or other sources.

Adaptation of Hardy Species: Some plant species are highly adaptable and can tolerate harsh environments, including concrete. These plants may have evolved specific mechanisms to penetrate or withstand the challenges posed by concrete, such as developing long roots that can access deeper soil or having specialized structures to survive in nutrient-poor conditions.

Even if concrete looks like as hostile environment for plants, we can see the power of nature. Nonetheless, nature finds a way to thrive even in challenging conditions, and with time, some plants can manage to establish themselves in concrete environments.
