| Hello, friends! Without a doubt, the historic part of Lviv is a fascinating place for walks and an absolute treasure for photographers. However, only a small number of people actually live there, as most of Lviv’s population resides in the so-called "residential" districts, one of which is Sykhiv. It’s the everyday life of Sykhiv on a foggy winter morning that’s captured in my photos today, particularly a part of it known as "Santa Barbara." This area once had arches that closely resembled those in the TV series of the same name, which was incredibly popular in Ukraine in the early 90s (my childhood days). Someone with a sharp sense of humor gave the neighborhood this nickname, and it stuck. In the photos, you’ll see the local grocery market, identical high-rise buildings with their upper floors disappearing into the fog, and wide asphalt streets that are convenient for vehicles (unlike the narrow streets in the city center). Such is the street life in this seemingly unwelcoming neighborhood (but only at first glance 😉). | Привіт, друзі! Без сумніву, історична частина Львова - дуже цікаве місце для прогулянок та безумовно знахідка для фотографа. Проте там живе дуже маленька кількість людей і більшість населення Львова проживає у так званих "спальних" районах, одним із яких є Сихів. Саме буденне життя Сихова туманного зимового ранку потрапило на мої сьогоднішні фото, а саме його субчастина - "Санта-Барбара". Тут колись були арки, дуже схожі на арки у однойменному серіалі, який був дуже популярний в Україні на початку 90-х (а це часи мого дитинства), тому цей мікрорайон хтось гострий на язик назвав так і ця назва прижилася. А на світлинах присутній і місцевий продуктовий ринок, і однакові на вигляд висотки, верхні поверхи яких тонуть у тумані, і широкі асфальтовані вулиці, зручні для проїзду транспорту (не те що в центрі) - таким вуличне життя у цьому непривітному з першого погляду районі (але це лише на перший погляд 😉). |
I still remember when I was little, I watched a TV series Santa Barbara which told the story of a young man who was imprisoned and forced to be away from his lover. But I forgot why he was imprisoned? 😁
Oh, there were so many episodes that I don’t remember anything 😄
