Cleaning an Overgrown Grass Airstrip - Installing the Lawn Mower Engine - #5

in General Aviation3 years ago

Hi Hive,

Welcome back to the airstrip cleanup. This is part 5.

Why a Cleanup?

I have ignored and neglected the airstrip and hangar for about 6 months and as a result, nature took over. With a fallen fence, tall overgrown grass, and a filthy hangar, the whole place is in dire need of a cleanup.

Where Are We So Far?

At the start of this video, the bottom part of the runway, starting from the hangar, is almost completely taken care of.

In this part 5, I'm taking care of the little area I wasn't able to trim last time and then I install the lawn mower engine. After making sure the new engine (Briggs & Stratton 500e series) runs smoothly, I put it to the test and start mowing the runway.

It honestly feels great to see the progress after every day of work and I'm pleased to see that half the runway is back to what it used to be. When the other half is done and after some maintenance on the gyrocopter, I may be able to take you all on a flight with me.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves though, there is still a lot of work to be done.

Enjoy part 5 of the cleanup!

Stay tuned for part #6 next week. Thanks for watching!

looking good! Is it giving you inspiration?

It seems like it. By the way, it was Anais who filmed him in the first part of the video 😁

haha I was wondering how he got you to be cameraman but seems he's got a new videographer!

Haha, he's been asking me to take a video of him because it's getting difficult to manage alone. I will probably do so one of these days lol

yup I have to do mine solo as Camille is always busy with her stuff innit

I'm hoping she'll help me soon so as to get better angles on some shots, and also progress faster in my work, hehe... 😉

She may end up becoming a film maker you never know!

Well, I definitely enjoy spending a few hours working on the airstrip. I get to be on my own, in my own world and I have the satisfaction to see the result afterward.

So it's great mentally speaking. Physically, however, that's a different thing. Even though I don't consider myself old, I'm definitely not 20 anymore and really lack exercise 😁. That's why I'm actually quite slow, but then it's not like I have to follow a schedule, I have plenty of time.

Now as for inspiration, I can't say I'm inspired, but I'm gonna stick to it, keep recording and posting it in here for a while, to the dismay of some, lol.

I always think you should be doing something, anything as usually it’s the catalyst for something else to happen. I don’t get why people stick their beak i to posts they don’t like, they should just move along to something else. I don’t get it. Keep em coming bro!

Thanks mate.
