OCTOBER'S REFLECTION PART 2: Faith Anchors Our Prayers

October's reflection

October reminds us that despite the visible changes, there is much happening beneath the surface. In the same way, when we pray, we may not always see immediate results, God assures us that God is at work behind the scenes.

James 1, verse 6 emphasizes this point.

But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

Faith anchors our prayers, giving us confidence that God hears and will respond in His perfect timing.

Prayer brings peace. Amid the hustle and bustle of modern life, prayer offers a refuge of peace. In the same way, when we pray, we step away from the distractions that we have, and we step away from the distractions of the world and into a moment of quiet connection with God.

Philippians chapter 4, verse 6 and 7 tells us,

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving. Present your requests to God, and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

This verse reminds us that prayer is not just about asking but also about receiving the peace that comes from trusting God.

One of the hardest lessons in prayer is learning to surrender our desires and trust in God's will.

As we pray, we might have specific outcomes in mind, but part of spiritual maturity is recognizing that God's plans are often better than our own.

Jesus modeled this in His prayer in Gethsemane, Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me. Yet not my will, but yours be done.

Luke chapter 22, verse 42.

In October, we can reflect on how surrendering to God's timing and will is part of a natural spiritual cycle.

Praying for others, prayer is not just a personal practice but also an opportunity to intercede for others.

Ephesians chapter 6, verse 18

Instructs us, And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.

Stay Blessed.
