Matthew 6 verses 19 to 21
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also"
What does treasures on earth mean? Imagine you buy the latest phone and you love it. It's sleek and fast and everyone notices. But then one day it gets scratched or stops working. Or worse, someone steals it.
Earthly treasures are things we can lose. Like gadgets, clothes, money or even fancy cars. They might make us happy for a while, but they don't last forever.
Think of a sandcastle at the beach. It looks beautiful, but when the tide comes in, it washes away. In the same way, things we chase after in this world, like wealth and material stuff, can disappear just as easily.
Moths and vermin destroy. This part reminds us that the things we value on earth can easily fade away. Moths can ruin clothes and vermin can spoil food.
No matter how much we try to protect these things, they're not permanent.
