I've been working a lot on my #jongojems subscription content by revisiting my quotes and journals from the past 20 plus years. I have wrote down a ton of concepts and idea from my journey through 'the university of self education' aka....Reading books lol
And one of the books that I wanted to highlight today was from my favorite author John C. Maxwell. Arguably the authority on leadership, his books have helped me over the years in more ways than I can describe.
And one of the books that left a lasting impression on me was this one...
In this book Dr. Maxwell goes over what he calls his 'daily doze'. 12 daily habits and practices that can transform your life and career. And in this post, I'm going to revisit what I wrote down so many years ago in my journals when I drafted my 'daily dozen':
1. Attitude - For me this was to stop holding grudges. Never be 'angry' at anyone for any amount of time.
2. Priorities - I wrote down that I needed to prioritize my own life through putting God first, my health and personal growth. If I focused on these, my life would always be headed in the right direction.
3. Health - Eat good, move my butt. That's literally what I wrote down lol
4. Family- Everyday, let my family know I care and that I love them. With a strong family, you are the richest person on the planet!
5. Thinking - We process tens of thousands of thoughts a day, let's focus on good thought. And put them down in a journal....So you can make a post about it over a decade later on a blockchain ;)
6. Commitment - Push myself daily to take care of my health. I have to admit, looking back...I did a pretty bad job at this. I need to focus on this big time going forward.
7. Finances - Follow the plan I laid out back then to retire by 40. Welp, that didn't happen LOL Need to re-work that plan slightly.
8. Faith - Read the bible daily. This is actually something I have done pretty well. I've read through the bible which was a goal of mine a few years ago from Genesis to Revelation. Nothing better than diving into the Word.
9. Relationships - Grow and nurture what I have and change my attitude towards my family and friends. Sometimes, I get caught in the trap of holding onto grudges. I need to let it go!
10. Generosity - Follow my plan which was similar to 'finances' this included donating to charities I believed in and focusing on my tithes every week.
11. Values - Follow my ethics every day. Never waiver from them!
12. Growth - Read a book every week. Which is something I have done quite regularly over the years. These days, the books I choose to read are much more focused on my faith, which is never a bad thing :)
So the point of this exercise was to encourage you to write down in a journal, these 12 practices that you wish to focus on and improve. And then re-visit them each and every week. You will be blown away at how these can change your life, even when you may not see the changes right away.
Looking back personally over these, I accomplished and built the majority of these habits into my personal life!

I think health should be 1st habit.
Agree. Not sure if they are prioritized but I always say look after #1 first, pay yourself first, reward yourself and be as happy as you can be since you are #1, at which point your mind and body will be at best to help someone else. !LOLZ
This is indeed very helpful
Thank you so much for sharing this with us
Great tips. The book looks really interesting.
it's fantastic. one of his best books but he has a ton of them!
Worthy priorities. !BBH
Those are some good things to consider. I do think that some things should be moved up higher, but the different things there are important.
John C. Maxwell's insights on leadership are indeed transformative.
Thank you for sharing this recommendation.
