Top 5 Christian Books

in The Kingdom8 days ago

O.k., the disclaimer should be obvious for this top list that I'm drafting up....

This is my top 5 Christian #books that does not include the bible. Obviously there are 66 books that reign supreme in my life, but I don't just read the bible when it comes to my faith.

And I have done plenty of these lists over the years, just....Not on a religious angle.

Yeah I love to read lol

So I thought it would be great to make a list of my top 5 Christian books! And these are in no particular order, just books I've loved to read over the years and multiple times at that!

1. Mere Christianity by CS Lewis

This was one of the biggest aha moments I had in my walk with Christ. I read CS Lewis's masterpiece when I was just beginning my Christian walk and wow what an impression it left on me.

When I was reading this, I had a lot of questions and the apologetic tone of this book really helped my belief and faith! A must read for anyone curious about why Christians believe what they do.

2. The Desire of Ages by Ellen G White

Yeah, I'm unapologetically a Seventh Day Adventist. And I could name about 20 EGW books that everyone should read lol But this is the magnum opus of Ellen's work.

The Desire of Ages is the 3rd in a 5 volume set called the Conflict of the Ages. And right in the middle of this set is the life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus. The historical insight of this book is unmatched and it's one book I couldn't stop turning the pages in.

3. The Reason for God by Timothy Keller

Sadly, this pastor passed away a few years ago but wow, what a giant of the Christian faith! He wrote this about a decade or so ago, and this is one of the best books I've ever read on why we need God in our lives.

But not only us as individuals, there's plenty of reason that Timothy Keller highlights as to why God is needed...For this world! This was one of the first books I ever read by him, and pretty much own all his writings. You can't go wrong with any of Timothy Keller's books.

Just an amazing author and people started calling him the present day CS Lewis. Big shoes to fill :)

4. Could It Really Happen? by Marvin Moore

This very popular Adventist author also recently passed away and he's the author of so many powerful books. This was one of the first ones I read from Mr. Moore and it absolutely blew me away!

The entire book is based around Revelation 13 in light of history and current events. An absolute eye opener and really does confirm to readers that Jesus is in fact, soon to return. One of reasons I finally became a bible believing Christian was that I could no longer deny biblical prophecy through history. This book is the evidence of what's happened and what will soon take place.

5. The Sanctuary Service by M.L. Andreasen

Another big reason I stopped denying Christ and His bible was my study of the sanctuary service. The shadows that pointed to Christ were just incredible to learn and the deeper I dug into it, the more excited I became about my faith.

This classic was written back in the 1930's and is considered one of the authoritative books ever written about the sanctuary. It can be quite a confusing topic to learn about in scripture, but Mr. Andreasen writes this in plain english for anyone to understand.

The more I think about this...The more I think I should write a part 2 to this post and make it a top 10 list lol

There's just so many amazing books out there for our faith and I encourage everyone that wants to deepen their faith or curious about it, to read more!!!

What about you?

I don’t really read books but I read pamphlets given to my by pastors…

Also by CS Lewis but perhaps not the top 5 is The Screwtape Letters.
I've narrated portions of that before.

The Faded Page has available to read online.

Yeah I've read it as well. Very well done.

It's always an opportunity to go through books written by spirited Christians. Always something to learn. I am happy for your growth in the kingdom, continue to gain more insight.

You know... I keep on saying I'm going to get my hands on the Gospel of Judas. I know it's none canonic, but I've listen to some podcasts about it and its fascinating to me.

interesting. i know about all the apocryphal stuff but never heard of that one.

The books you've listed seem like good books though I've read none. For me the Memoirs of Charles G Finney is one of the books that inspired me most as a growing Christian. I've read it multiple times and still fascinated and inspired each time. Thanks for writing. Have a good day.

oh nice. thanks for the recommendation. i’ll check it out.

Ive only read cs lewis from this list but I wil have to check out the rest

I love to read but I haven’t read this type of books. can you tell me a site were I can possible go to read them

You have some wonderful book selections there. I haven't read any of those, but I think I will get my hands on them. You should also try "the Exploit of faith", by Bishop David Oyedepo.

Awesome, thanks so much for the recommendation!

My honour!

The reason for God sounds interesting to me.

It's so good. Just makes sense when you read it.
