It's been over a year now since I started exercising; a couple years before I started taking my overall health seriously and it has been an incredible journey. I've made incredible progress, on my mind body and overall health and I've never felt better. I've also learned a lot of things on this journey and I thought I'd share them with everyone.
The Pillars to a Healthy Life
There is so much misconception in the fitness world and it's easy for people to go astray if not well guided. I've drifted myself every now and then, but eventually I've always known the truth. It's quite important to maintain a good balance between the three important pillars for you to be able to lead a healthy life. You need to eat right. Proteins, veggies, vitamins, fruits, etc. you need to get enough rest. Forget all that "stay up late" nonsense. You need exercise. Cardio, strength etc. this three part of your life need to be in perfect harmony for you to be in control and live a good, healthy and happy life.
I tell people, what you eat says a lot about you. The kind of food you eat, and what you put inside you. I remember a couple years ago, when I was the "eat everything guy", lol. Your diet is super important. Eating right. Getting a balanced diet of healthy and solid carbs, not from junks and fatty foods with excess calories. A good amount of protein for that amino acid and muscle repair, and of course fruits and veggies. A good diet plays a vital role in your life. Take your life seriously.
I like to call REST, the forgotten pillar because people often neglect it. I myself I've been guilty of this multiple times. The disadvantages of getting less sleep is so many. From fatigue z to stress, to poor cognitive function, to reduce productivity, to irritability, etc. the list is endless. A good sleep would do wonders for you and your future self would thank you current self for it.
Exercise is the engine of vitality. Weight lifting is my best part. The benefits of a good exercise routine cannot be overemphasized. And it doesn't have to be a gym thing. It could be as simple as walking more, or just picking a fun sport you love and enjoy and doing it regularly. You could do simple cardio like cycling, running, jugging, etc. you could do strength training and lift heavy or even a simple flexibility exercise. The list is endless. Just pick a simple task and stick to it until it becomes a part of you.
Commit to a Healthier Life
Balancing this three pillars is super important to seeing any changes and long time results. One left out and they whole pyramid comes crashing down. Start small today and continue to make consistent improvement and you will be thankful you did. Remember what they say, health is wealth. Thank you for reading my post. Cheers.
