Kodak EasyShare C813

I wrote a week or so back about my love for an old Kodak EasyShare C875. Wouldn't you know, as I was browsing the local Goodwill I stumbled upon another Kodak EasyShare.

This wasn't the C875, it was the slightly more economic model, the C813. It's pretty no-frills, but for $10 (including case, cable, batteries and an 8GB micro SD) I couldn't turn it down.

Having a little point and shoot is super fun. Way less work than my fancy DSLR. Of course my first pics had to be of cats, because they are ubiquitous and generally sit still.

Unlike children, who move constantly!

It's not the best quality, but what can you expect for an older digital camera? At 8.2 megapixels it's a decent resolution.

And I love the black and white.

It's great to take on little store runs. I also can hand it off to the kids and not worry about it.

After getting it, I had to drag out my old Canon Rebel and Nikon point and shoot. I'll try them out soon enough, but for now I'll have fun with this little Kodak.

Definitely a keeper! :)
Seeing the equivalent focal lengths, it would be good for street and some portraits too. What are the aperture values, are they specified?

The only info I can find says the max is 2.7. That is better than my kit Nikon lens.

i remember these first digital cameras. i had one with only a 3,5-megapixel image size.
the quality is not something, but the magic to have the images immediately appear on your PC was priceless. I wasn't much in photography these days, just purchased it for my son during our trip to Amsterdam. Not sure where the images of our trip are right now.

It's so insane to me how great we all thought those tiny grainy photos were back then just because they were instant. We have come so far since then, although I do wonder if we've reached a point where we can't really improve much more.

right, interesting to see the level we can reach in this "improvement"
bigger screens, more megapixels, deeper dynamic range? 😀😀
all these are very far from photography but more about the marketing pushing people to purchase another "better" camera every short period of time :-)

Completely agree, marketing is powerful, just how many megapixels does one really need? Are we making prints to be visible from space?!
I hope cameras don't become like appliances, with built in failures designed to force customers to replace them. 😕

yes hope for this as well :-)
its why I prefer these old manual film cameras which do not require the weekly software update for proper working :-) and no one boring developer or UI designer won't move the shutter button to another side of the body or something like this :-)))
