Photographic Society Journal #3

Hey there, people, passioned about Photography!

Here is the latest journal of the "Photographic Society" community on the HIVE platform.

The community is gradually increasing its member base, closing the 100th member, wow! :)

Thank you, all of you, who post in this young and promising group page! Hopefully the community grows even more and hosts more interesting points of view!

Today our journal is focusing on news, of course, related to our passion, The Photography.

Let's first start with one very sad news.

It seems that Amazon is pulling the plug off of one of the most useful and practical photographic databases available, DPreview.com

Here is the full news: https://www.dpreview.com/news/5901145460/dpreview-com-to-close

It is a real shame that after more than two decades of providing useful advice and being a wonderful knowledge base, Amazon is killing this service.

You have one week left, until 10th of April, to extract any information that you may find useful.

It is sad that, after all, it seems profits are so important.

Lots of people got sad or angry, there are almost 5,000 comments under the original announcement!

Now, here are some more fresh Photographic news for you!

Our mission is to make this community on HIVE more popular and potentially attract Twitter users to join the platform, so please follow us on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/photosochive

We share manually selected posts on Twitter! But that's not all. On Twitter we search for other photographers and photo lovers over there, to appreciate and share, and admire their work. There are other plans too, for other initiatives. Both here and on Twitter. Researching other social networks is in progress as well.

Can we support each other, sharing the same passion? The future will show that!

That’s annoying Amazon is shutting that site down but not at all surprising. They are likely going to roll out a service where they charge people money or something. Typical!

True. Profits are paramount but just kill such an awesome service by giving just a two-weeks notice?
If they really do that, I am not seeing myself as their customer any time soon.

Yeah sadly it’s all about profit these days. Companies like Amazon don’t care at all lol
