Axie Origin Builds #4: Peace Maker Bird

Axie Origin is all the hype! Let's keep theorycrafting new builds.

So far I've shared my thoughts on Bruiser Plants, Tank Aquas, and Fear Bugs. Today let's take a look at a build I am curious but unsure about -- the Peace Maker Bird build.

Principles for Buying (Recap)

  1. Look for good, affordable deals
  2. Simple strategies are safer to plan on for the early meta rather than complicated stuff
  3. Spend for entertainment only.

What is Peace Maker Bird?

There's been a lot of talk about Triple Nut Beasts and Little Owl Birds, two obvious builds where multiple Axie cards have the same effect and buff each other as you play them.

I am hearing less talk about Peace Maker. It's not the exact same pattern as nut/owl builds, but I have a weird feeling this combo might be as strong as anything.

It's only two cards rather than three, but the "Weak" status could be a big deal. Weak reduces the opposing Axie's attack power by 20%.

Applying Weak while also dealing bonus damage up to 75 per hit is an interesting combo.

It deals 75 damage when activated.

To be fair, Nut/Owl combo can deal 75+ damage per hit as soon as the third card is played, so Peace Maker isn't competing at all on raw damage. Will the Weak effect be enough to make the difference?

Let's check a few examples and see if anything interesting pops up.

Example 1

Total Cost: 0.065 (These decent Peace Maker bird comps are already expensive...)

The idea here is that Raven's Jinx debuff along with Kestrel's "disarmed" debuff are strong defensive options that will synergize with Peace Maker applying weak. This kind of bird looks a lot like a bruiser style since it does good damage while also providing a lot of defense.

Note the Lucas eyes, which give us a 0 cost on the build. I am sure that 0 cost cards will be important for Axie Origin especially cards like Lucas that let you search for cards.

The only problem is 0.065 is quite expensive especially for a build like this which I am not very confident about. I will open up my filters to try and find a cheaper option on a budget.

Example 2

Cost: 0.023 ETH

This one is much more affordable, offering 0 cost value in Clear and Nimo followed by well-rounded damage options in Goldfish and Oranda. Oranda dispels buffs while Peace Maker applies debuffs, so there's a chance to shut down the opponent's strategy while you destroy their team.

This build is pretty good, although it isn't pure so it only gets 11 PPs. For the money, and with no breeds, this is probably the kind of Peace Maker builds I would look for.

Conclusion

If Peace Maker is strong then we're going to need to breed a lot more of them with the appropriate 0 cost cards to go with it -- especially birds with Lucas eyes. Right now it's fairly limited options.

I am worried that Peace Maker simply will not be as strong as the aggro option of Little Owl bird builds... but, I also see it as possible that the "Bruiser Bird" with peace maker and other mixed aggro/defense cards will make a strong build. Perhaps other teams will have a hard time dealing lethal through the weakness debuffs.

I'd look to combine Peace Maker birds with other Axies that have healing moves and maybe curses to slow down the opponent's team further.

IDK, I am interested to see if Peace Maker gets any play in the early Axie Origin meta. What do you think?
