The PEPE frog card battle game 🐸 is a card game where a Hive account is required to play. It is an idea by @pepetoken that came into reality with the help of @kenny-crane (who is also the creator of the #MetaRobots game and the #tokenfaucet bot).
It has a centralized server, meaning that it does not use the Hive blockchain for anything other than authenticating via Hive accounts and utilizing HBD (Hive-Backed Dollars) as a way to buy and withdraw VOLTs, which is the primary in-game token. It has three other official accounts, which are @pepegame, @pepeteam, and @pepegamex.

Brief history
- sometime in March 2024.The idea for the game came from @pepetoken who started to have some talks with @kenny-crane to develop the game
- The game got released in testing phase sometime in April 2024.
- The game has exited testing stage (where all player progress have been reset) sometime in October 2024.
- The game is currently in beta, where several bugs still are being searched for and
eatenfixed.
Battle mechanics
- The battlefield is separated into two sections of three squares, where the first section is for the opponent frogs and the second section is for the player frogs.
- Every battle must have 3 player frogs, and the opponent will always have 3 frogs too for every battle.
- At present, the opponent team is just a set of computer frogs which is always the same on the same battle on the demo game or a given campaign on the adventure game (for example, Level 5 of Campaign 3 is always 1 Epic Xylon and 2 Epic Zanders whose Stats don't change every battle).
- To join a battle, the player is asked whether to play on the demo game or adventure game.
- The demo game has 6 levels. To unlock a level, the player must first finish the previous level. The first level is already unlocked after getting an account in the game. The cost of playing a demo game is initially free, which increases to 3, then 6, then 9 VOLT tokens until it resets to free exactly 60 minutes after the free game is played.
- The adventure game has 4 campaigns. Each campaign has a separate timer for free battles. The first campaign has a free battle every 60 minutes, the second campaign has a free battle every 120 minutes, and the third and fourth campaigns have a free battle every 180 minutes.
- When the player has just joined the game, there is only one active campaign (Campaign 1 - "Fabulous Frog Frens Plan An Awesome Adventure"). When that campaign is completed, the next one (Campaign 2) opens which is named "current campaign" and the Campaign 1 is named "previous campaign". When Campaign 2 is completed, The Campaign 3 ("Protection with Armor") opens and the first campaign is no longer available, and so on.
- Higher campaigns mean more XP and VOLT per win, but the opponent frogs become significantly harder to beat.
- There are three types of frogs in the game. Xylon (the red frog) is melee, so he can attack an opponent frog only when it is in front of him. Yarrow (the green frog) is ranged, so she can attack an opponent frog only when it is not in front of her. Zander (the blue frog) is magic, such that he can attack an opponent frog from any distance, though at the expense of slightly lower stats than the other two frog types.
- officially released the exact formula of how Speed affects the chance of a frog to hit a faster target.Each frog attacks at most once, where the frog with the highest Speed stat attacks first. Any frog who is attacking another frog with the same or higher speed can miss (whether the attack is melee, ranged, or magic). @kenny-crane has
- Every time a frog is hit by a melee or ranged attack, its Armor gets reduced first, then its Health. For example, if the melee/ranged attack has 5 damage and the frog has 2 Armor, 2 of the damage will be reduced by the Armor, making the Armor 0, and the remaining 3 will get deducted from the Health.
- Every time a frog is hit by a magic attack, the damage is directly dealt to Health, ignoring Armor.
- If a frog's Health reaches 0, then it is defeated and is removed from the battle. The frog at its back (if there is any) will become the frontline frog, such that Xylon will finally be able to attack while Yarrow will no longer be able to attack.
- If all the opponent's frogs are defeated, then the player wins and gets the corresponding VOLT and XP rewards for the battle. If all the player's frogs are defeated, then the player loses and does not get any VOLT or XP rewards.
The market
- There are two types of markets in the game: the Card Market and the Pack Market.
- Buying and selling from those markets have no fees. The currency is VOLT.
- The Card Market is where players can buy or sell any frog card.
- The Pack Market is where players can buy or sell any unopened frog card pack.
Card packs
- Buying a frog card pack directly from the game costs 500 VOLT tokens, where the referrer of the player will get 8% (or 40 VOLT tokens) as reward, and the second-degree referrer (or the referrer of the referrer of the player) will get 4% (or 20 VOLT tokens) as reward. Because multiple accounts owned by the same person are allowed in a game, a player may get as high as a 12% rebate by referring themselves twice (where the first referred account is used to refer a second account, then using the second account to buy frog card packs).
- Opening a frog card pack will yield 3 frog cards, one of which is Rare, Epic, or Legendary. Any card from the pack has a 1 out of 8 chances of being Gold Foil.
Tokens
- The primary in-game token is VOLT, which can be used for any transaction in the game that involves tokens.
- VOLT tokens can be staked as VOLT Power, making the player earn 15% APR compounded daily. VOLT Power has a 7-day unstake period.
- VOLT Power gives the player GOV tokens every week. GOV tokens currently don't have a use in the game, though they are planned in the future to be used by players to make decisions in the development in the game. GOV tokens will be tradeable.
- VOLT tokens can be purchased using HBD (Hive Backed Dollars) at a rate of 1,000 VOLT per HBD. The minimum is 1,000 VOLT and can be purchased in increments of 1 VOLT (such that 1.234 HBD will give 1,234 VOLT tokens).
- VOLT tokens can be withdrawn into HBD at a rate of 1 HBD per 1,000 VOLT. Because the game is in beta, withdrawal is limited to 1,000 VOLT or 2,000 VOLT per transaction, and every withdrawal must be more than 24 hours after the previous withdrawal (if there is any).
Other facts
- The game has a time-limited faucet that corresponds to the season (such as Halloween and Christmas), where a random number of PEPE or VOLT tokens are awarded, and there is a random delay between claims.
- The game is currently invite-only, where Hive users can join only by getting invited by an existing player of the game (or admins such as @kenny-crane and @pepetoken).
- A player becomes allowed to invite a player to the game right after joining, and more after completing certain milestones (such as reaching Level 10 and/or buying at least 10,000 VOLT tokens in the game using HBD).

Indeed, it is likely that it will take a fair while, but I'm relentless, and patient, so I'll do it. At some point I would like to withdraw HBD on a regular basis to put into savings, but just like building my gold team, it will take time.
