Are you using the beta site?
If you are not, I highly recommend you check it out at https://beta.steemit.com. The beta site enables Hivemind communities and a few other new features.
Check out my video post on How to use the Communities Beta
Have you made a community?
If so, be sure to use the Community Announcement Community to let everyone know about your new community. If everyone uses this community we will have much better awareness of new communities launching.
What do you think of the new communities beta?
Share your feedback in the comment section what you think of the new community features. Even better, make a post with even more detailed feedback and make a post in the Community Feedback Community.
If you haven't noticed, I am a big fan of the new communities features and I believe they will improve engagement and communication but we need users creating and engaging in communities.
If you haven't made a community yet, make it a goal to come up with a good idea for a new community by the end of the year.
commenting for the first time from communites. might see what the flag button does :)
edit: awe... to be reviewed by moderators lol
One thing I like about communities is you can mute content and not have to flag it. This is good when the content isn't bad or stolen, just isn't related. Unlike tribes, you can mute individual posts or users.
cool!
Okay, that's a neat feature.
countering flags, ironic coming from the one spamming hundreds of comments/day voting them all.
Good community idea you've come up with, to announce new communities! I haven't checked during these holidays the engagement in Hivemind communities, but a few days before was still pretty decent, even though it's in beta, available on a different site (subdomain). I think they'll be great for true engagement, for sure.
I have a few communities I made that are for announcing things. Like Steem Torch and Steem Proposals.
I find these bots help a lot in allowing everyone to follow events and not have to hunt around the blockchain to see what is going on.
Steem Proposals one is very useful. I subscribed to it. Have a great 2020!
To the question in your title, my Magic 8-Ball says:
Hi! I'm a bot, and this answer was posted automatically. Check this post out for more information.
I've been posting in one community a lot, but I made my own. I may start just posting in it more often. I'm just curious about people being able to select the same name. It can lead to confusion and trolling. I know the hive-123456 tags are all different, but it would be cool to get something like HIVE-notanumber
I like that idea. You should make a post in the Community Feedback group.
Thanks for the feedback. Maybe I will do this when I write my opinion on communities which is coming soon.
There will always be hive-number but the ultimate goal will have a name resolution api that will allow you to do /communityname/ instead of /hive-xxxxxx/.
The problem is this will require a name resolution service and make it so you can squat names. Currently no one can squat a name as communities are all just IDs.
I'm sure front-ends could make an alliance and use a central database.
Or better yet, Steem could have an auction that will require the escrowing Steem over the auction period and then charging a similar amount each time to keep the name for additional periods (or new auction). Maybe even have a costly buy box after the first week to prevent trolls.
I created some communities as I was waiting for this Hivemind feature since years. I did run some communities pre blockchain that had more advanced features but hey, we are still in testing phase. Building a community on a blockchain might not be as easy as on communities that pay their content creator via ad revs though. So I like it and hope it will improve and stay - and furthermore will be accepted by the audience adding even more new folks from the outside world to our blockchain.
Yip been on there made a community and then I kinda just forget. Thanx for the reminder :)
I’ve made a shitpost community.
That should be popular.
LOL
I'm now using the beta site for most of my Steem related interactions. I like the community function, but it's definitely in its infancy. There are QoL additions and changes that need to be made. As long as Steemit Inc keeps iterating and updating, these features will help Steem in the long run. We can start drawing more people to the site with this.
What QoL changes? Can you make a post in the Community Feedback Community with what you think would make communities better?
One step ahead of you:
Communities Search
Posting to multiple communities
And I'll make more as I come up with them.
seen it, wrote some posts in some, nothing happened, kinda waiting for steempeak to make it possible to use.

Planning a few communities, especially the one for OCD.
i'm gunna create a mega community and not let anyone join. :)
Sounds like what Steemians already do. :p
I joined recently in a community hive-149678, but i see you are downvoting the post there, something wrong on it?
I have two communities. Shadow Hunters and Feathered Friends. I am quite excited about seeing what the future holds for communities!
Dear @themarkymark, i am sorry if somehow i made you upset on my latest post, it was not my intetion to make you upset about STEM coin, my post was just a question of what is going on in steem-engine, where is impossible to understand which coin is good and which is bad.
As you can see i am supporter of STEM and i am owner of some of them as you can see from below image, so it is my pleasure if i can got good roi on it, but due to steem-engine way of calculation, it is for me impossible to understand...:(((
Had nothing to do with the fact you mentioned STEM, you flat out libeled many projects and the fact it looked like it was written by a first grader.
Dear @themarkymark, thank you if you consider my post as it was made by a first grader, but if you see what i wrote, i mention those projects as serious projects, but due to steem-engine calculation it seems to us they are loosing, just few days ago value of those coins was less than half than now, but this is not fair for who is investing there see something not true and being confused.
Another question, due to fact i got downvoted from @buildawhale too and i would like to see if i become a member of your blacklist, but why i cannot open your latest post?
You are not and would not be on the blacklist for such things.
Thank you very much!
Saying Steem Engine stole is libeling unless there is proof. Get a dictionary.
I am LOVING this for tons of reasons, the hood, okayboomer, sports, sportsball, community and communities I'm having FUN in. It's been ages since I spent this much time back on Steem and the features are great.
This is a great segway into the New Year imho.
