A Glimpse of the Past - Century Houses

in Lifescape Tribe2 days ago

I went out today because I had some errands to run. On a typical day, I'm usually at home since I work from home, but today I went out and headed to a neighboring city. I took a boat to get there to save time and fare, since the city I’m going to is parallel to the city I live in, and the river is the only thing dividing us.

When I got off the boat, I had to walk to my destination. I could’ve taken land transport, but I chose to walk since it's only two blocks away, and it’s also a bit of exercise.

I’ve been passing through this road for a long time but never paid attention to the houses here. However, today I noticed that there are a lot of old houses here, by old houses, I mean century-old houses, houses that have been standing even before I was born.

They changed the lower part of the house but they retained the 2nd floor

For this one, it think they already changed the roof and the gate

For this house, i think they just fixed the roof

You can tell because of the style of the houses. There are similar houses like these in our city, and they were already very old, and they are called century houses. So, I know that these types of houses are really old. What’s nice is that the owners of these houses still maintain them, and they haven’t replaced them with new structures.

You can see the similarities in the design of these houses, especially in the style of the window grills.

It’s just nice to see that these houses are still being taken care of, although I’m not sure if anyone still lives in them because the windows are closed. If there are still people living there, it’s nice because the interiors of these houses are also beautiful.

I’m not sure if these houses are from the Spanish era, but from what I know, they probably are because of the style of the houses.

There are more houses like this in the city of Manila, but from what I know, they are slowly being replaced with new ones because some of them are already very old and are no longer being maintained. If you ever visit Manila, it’s a good idea to go to Intramuros. There, you’ll truly feel the old Manila vibe because even the roads are made of brick.

I hope you liked my simple post. If you enjoyed it, follow me as I post a lot of random things that I think are interesting.
