Does Journal Size Matter?

When it comes to journal size, is there a difference depending on use case? Like for on the go does a smaller journal make sense vs. using a standard letter size journal? What about the medium A5 size journals? When I think of a journal I guess I think of a medium size. Something sort of intimate, but big enough to free flow write.

What about you? Do you have a preferred journal size? Or does the journal size depend on specific use case?

I'm going to tag a few folks who have been active on here to get a broader sense of preference and purpose. @honeyed @asynckronism @epodcaster @shainemata et al.

Smaller journals promote efficiency with words that just doesn't happen with larger ones. Ironically, I once bought a large journal that took years to fill, even without writing conservatively. This sounds like great value. But it wears out the journal. The spine will break and the cover gets a beating.

I recently heard about library binding and have to say it makes the most sense for a book that will stand the test of time and frequent use.

I use the A5 but I'm starting to be a fan of the bigger B5. It's got more real estate per page to fit my doodles and my words.

i like the tiny journal but I'd be pressured to use it for a secret message or some other high security reason.
