Qara prison or Qara prison, also known as the basement, the vestibule, or the Ismaili Mutabbaq is a historical landmark, built at the beginning of the 18th century during the reign of Sultan Moulay Ismail inside the Ismaili Kasbah in the city of Meknes. The prison is a network of basements and corridors, next to the Ambassadors Suite in the Ismaili Palace.[1] Designed in the form of a semi-rectangular, divided into three large halls, each with a group of huge arches and pillars, the average length of each pillar is 3.46 meters, with an average circumference of 1.4 meters. [2] The entrance to the prison is a staircase located near the tailors’ dome in the Ismaili Kasbah.
