with 12 packs you have a 3.42% chance of receiving 1 card per Airdrop.
You would have a 34% chance of receiving a card considering all the airdrops left.
An alternative would be to buy the packs and not open them but their value will remain on Hive Engine below 4$ at least until all the packs of cards have been sold...
I honestly don't know it's a choice you have to make, open 12 packs and hope you find a good value card or spend the $50 on the market.
