Hi Friends,

We all love someone and admire One or the other person from the favorite thing we like be it Sports, movies or just a person around us. Isn't it?

Me, being a sports loving person and that too, a big fan of Cricket sports, obviously, me too love, admire a person who we can say One of the finest cricketer the game has seen.

And the person I am talking about is the former Indian Cricket player and previous Indian Cricket team's coach of Rahul Dravid. Well, Rahul Dravid is not among the highest run scorers, nor he is the highest wicket taker, but he is the cricketer who is remembered for grinding the bowling and making the bowlers to tire and then score runs.

Obviously, he is known as The Wall for his grinding act especially in test cricket format.

Dravid First played for India in 1996 when India toured Sri Lanka and the start to his career wasn't that fruitful as he just scored 10 odd runs in the One Day International series against Sri Lanka, but his debut in Test cricket format was superb with him making his debut against England at Lords, the Mecca of Cricket as we call that ground as because of the beautiful Cricket ground.

So, making his debut in Second India vs England test match of the 1996 India tour at Lords, Dravid scored 95 runs making One of the memorable debuts and that was the beginning of the wall, the mr. dependable of Indian cricket.

He never turned back after that in test Cricket as he continued to score runs all around the World and he holds the records for scoring centuries against all 10 test playing nations (by the time he retired) and that too in all 10 different test playing countries.

I think that is a feat only few have achieved and if I remember it correctly, only 2 players have achieved that with Yonus Khan from Pakistan being the Second player to achieve that feat.

Rahul Dravid is nicknamed as the wall for grinding the bowling in test cricket as he had great technique against spin as well as fast bowling and used to be rock solid while defending and he is also called as mr. dependable because he used to ensure to score runs where most of the Indian batters failed and there used to be an assurance when he moves to bat that, yes, Dravid is at the crease and India will score runs now.

Dravid holds many records and I would like to mention few here:

He holds a unique record and he is the only player in Test Cricket history with no golden ducks in his 286 tests!!! Yes, that is still a unique record.

He also holds the record for facing most deliveries in test cricket with 31258 balls he faced and another record is to spend 44152 minutes at the crease, obviously, he is the wall you know.

Dravid is known as the gentleman of Cricket as he never sledged and never showed discomfort against umpire decision. But, that doesn't means he never got angry on Cricket field.

He did get angry when he was intimated by All Donald, the South African fast bowler and the angriness was with his bat talking instead of him speaking out something as he hit Donald for huge Six and scored runs at brisk pace which he isn't known for.

Rahul Dravid whether on the field or of the ground, he is always smiling and the most visible character for him is never loose the coolness. He always used to be cool even if India are not doing well, he always let his bat talk and even when he was criticized for his slow batting in ODI's and even in tests, he never used to respond or show remarks.

That is what makes him the greatest players of our era and being technically sound batsman, it wasn't easy to outshine the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting and all in test cricket, but that is Rahul Dravid who scored 10K+ runs in both test and ODI format and finished Third I think among all time run scorers chart by the time he retired in 2012.

If you ask someone who is the most gentleman cricketer, I am sure, Rahul Dravid's name will be there at the top for his on and off the ground behavior.

It's notable that, India recently won their Second T20 Cricket World cup in West Indies under his coaching only and he will always be remembered as best batsman and now as successful coach as well.

Rahul Dravid will remain as my favorite Cricketer no matter we might see a better player than him in test Cricket, I admire him a lot and I will continue to do so.
