Vinegar, The Sour Wine

Hi Friends,

Source

Humans are said to be more sophisticated among all the species and humans keep searching for new things whether it's something to eat or something to invent, they will never be content with something available, but keep searching for better things.

We have seen revolutions in food items with each generation finding better things to eat and opposite is also true with more junk food being added to our routine.

One of the inventions I would like to mention here is the Vinegar, which is being used in food items, used as a cleaning item, used in natural remedies, used to kill weeds, to remove bacteria, oh the list goes on!!!

Among all these, I think Vinegar is mostly used in cooking as a dressing material for salads, sauces and even in condiments because of it's sour taste.

Types of Vinegar:

I am not an expert in Vinegar, but from googling, I found that, there are more than 12 to 15 types of Vinegars are there!!!

Vinegar, which is known as sour wine, is having main use in cooking and most common One is Apple Cider Vinegar which is know to boost digestion.

If we see different Vinegars, all of those are having a name connected to wines or alcohol as the Vinegar is a product from alcohol with bacteria and hence the names Apple Cider Vinegar, Red Wine Vinegar, Distilled While Vinegar, White Wine Vinegar, Balsamic Vinegar, Champagne Vinegar, Rice Vinegar, Malt Vinegar, now all those as we can see are connected with different wines and hence the Vinegar is known as sour wine because of ingredient wine and taste as sour.

If we explore on the Vinegar, we can see that, Vinegar is a fermented alcohol and the period of fermentations is from One year to many years as some of the Vinegars are said to be fermented for more than 10 years and as the period of fermentation increases that sourness, taste is said to be increasing due to the natural bacterial activity with the alcohol and the main product of this fermentation is the acetic acid which is said to be the purest vinegar.

While Vinegar is mostly used for cooking, there are other uses of it which are like as a cleaning material and I still remember One of the youtubers telling that Vinegar and baking soda works tough on stains and kitchen cleaning with all those oil, spice and other things which are very hard to remove otherwise and I myself has experienced usage of above combination worked well to clean the windows which were like slippery with oil remnant from cooking.

Recently, I also read about Apple Cider Vinegar as a material to be used to get rid of those small insects in kitchen which keep growing and attacks fruits and veggies and even food items.

So, the solution suggests to use Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass and close it with plastic cover and make some holes in the plastic cover, so that, the insects gets attracted by the smell of Apple Cider Vinegar and goes inside thru the holes, but will not be able to come out.

Inarguably, Apple Cider Vinegar is the One we mostly use in our kitchens pickles, salads and as a insect repellant with an example of which I explained above.

Vinegar's original use was said to be in pickle foods as it adds that sour taste to pickles and helps in keeping the pickle fresh and delays decaying because of the acid content it will have due to fermentation.

And when it comes to cleaning, Vinegar, especially the cheaper type of vinegar such as white wine vinegar is known to be a great alternative to usual cleaning items as Vinegar is without chemicals unlike the cleaning items we normally use and hence, it's considered to be a greener alternative to cleaning.

While there are more benefits of vinegar as a cooking agent, cleaning agent and for other activities as well, there are certainly said to be many disadvantages as well such as vinegar causing digestive side effects, tooth decaying, lowering potassium content in our body, throat burning, skin burning, issue with medications one might have and so on.

While everything when consumed in lower quantity is good for health, even alcohol is said to be good for health in little quantity, likewise, little quantity of vinegar is good for us, but when it becomes a habit to use it every day or in excessive quantity, it becomes an issue.

So, we need to have control on it and use it wisely in order to reap the rewards of using vinegar.

Why I am writing about this topic of Vinegar?

Because I am participating in NovemberInLeo, the monthly prompts from @leogrowth and @leofinance team as announced through this blog which gives us an opportunity write on different topics and here is my response to day 10 with topic being Favorite Vinegar and how do you use it in Kitchen? as we can see from below screenshot.
