Decreasing My Opponent's Chances with Debuffs

in Olio di Balena11 hours ago

In my battles in Splinterlands, I like to use monsters with abilities that will cause some kind of debuff on my opponent's monsters. I know it seems like a treacherous strategy, but anything goes to achieve victory in a battle, and with this strategy I will decrease my opponent's chances of coming out victorious.

An important detail when choosing which debuffs to use is to observe the rules that exist in the battle because depending on the rules I can predict the types of monsters that my opponent can use.

Link to the Battle

This battle is a great example because it has the Broken Arrows rule, which means that my opponent will only be able to use monsters with melee or magical attacks in the battle.

To better explain how my strategy works, I will explain the battle in every detail, and let's start with the rules that exist in it.

There are 3 rules in this battle, the Rise of the Commons rule, the Broken Arrows rule and the What Doesn't Kill rule.

Rise of the Commons - In this rule, players can only use Common or Rare monsters in battle.

Broken Arrows - In this rule, players cannot use monsters with ranged attacks in battle, they can only use monsters with melee or magic attacks.

What Doesn't Kill - In this rule, all monsters receive the Enrage ability in battle.

  • The Enrage ability causes monsters to increase their melee attack and speed by +50% while they are not at maximum health.

As I mentioned before, through the rules, it is possible to predict a little which monsters my opponent will use and since there is the Broken Arrows rule, this means that there is a great chance that my opponent will use several monsters with magic attacks in battle since most monsters with melee attacks cannot attack in any position.

Since there is a high chance that my opponent will use monsters with magical attacks, the best debuff for this battle is the Silence ability. It will reduce the magical attack of my opponent's monsters by -1.

I was right in my prediction and most of my opponent's monsters have magical attacks, so my strategy will work well and because of it, this battle will become much easier.

  • For this battle, I selected 2 monsters that have the Silence ability, they are the Goblin Psychic and the Elven Mystic. Since both have the Silence ability, the total magical attack of my opponent's monsters will be reduced by -2.

After applying the debuffs to my opponent's monsters, their magical attack was like this, and now that they are weaker, I will have an easier time facing them since they will cause less damage to my monsters.

My opponent also used a good strategy, he chose the summoner Immortalis which grants the ability Void to his monsters so he will also have a good advantage against my monsters with magic attack and he also has the Goblin Psychic which means that the magic attack of my monsters will be reduced by -1.

Although my opponent's strategy is good mine is better because I have more monsters and also more magic attack because of my choice of summoner which was Obsidian, so even with my opponent's debuffs my attack power is greater.

The battle lasted 5 rounds and it was not easy but in the end I came out victorious with 4 monsters remaining in the battle.
