Hello everyone, today I’ll be talking on the topic ”Survive and Thrive “
As we all know, life is so unpredictable. Challenges come, we face setbacks, uncertainty hits, we feel overwhelmed and we face moments that test our limits. Still, amidst these things, lies the natural capacity we have to not just survive but to thrive.
To be honest, things are hard, especially in Nigeria. Rent is high, when you think of building it is super high. When you also think of buying a house the prices are outrageous. So many things like this and not just housing. How do we even survive? That’s a big question.
I’d say survival is the foundation upon which thriving is built. Meeting basic needs and navigating immediate needs requires some change. I think it is about adapting to change, finding ways to cope with adversity, and building a sense of security. Many times, this involves that we focus on the practical which is securing shelter, food, safety, and many more. I want us to know that while survival is important, it is just the first step in a larger journey.
When it comes to thriving, on the other hand, it goes beyond just survival. Thriving is all about embracing a sense of purpose, building good connections, and pursuing our personal goals. Thriving is living a life that is not just fulfilling but rewarding.
I have always talked about resilience. To thrive, we need to be resilient. This means we have to learn how to bounce back from tough times, grow from mistakes, and adapt to change. You build resilience by facing challenges and coming out stronger. As I have always said, setbacks are not failures, they are opportunities to learn and grow.
Another important part of thriving is having strong relationships. We are social creatures, and our relationships make us feel connected, and supported, and give us a sense of purpose. Invest in relationships that make you feel good and allow you to be your true self.
Beyond resilience and relationships, thriving is about always learning and growing. This could mean trying new things, getting an education, or developing your skills. Keep challenging yourself and expanding your horizons. Even tho nowadays it is not easy to even find yourself and what interests you.
Ultimately, thriving means discovering what gives your life meaning and purpose. This could be found in your work, your relationships, or your passions. It is about having a clear direction and feeling like your life has a reason for being. It's also about living in line with your values and finding satisfaction in the journey, not just the destination.
In conclusion, surviving and thriving are two different things. While surviving focuses on simply getting by, thriving embraces a life filled with richness and meaning. When we shift our mindset, setting clear goals, building strong connections, taking calculated risks, we can transition from surviving to thriving. This will make us create a truly remarkable life.
Thanks for your time.
