Leda e il cigno al Palazzo Altieri, Sala delle vedute o di Riposo,

L'immagine, che decora uno degli spazi sottostanti le vedute, narra che Zeus, innamoratosi di Leda, si trasformò in un cigno per sedurla sulle rive del fiume Eurota e per poi accoppiarsi con lei.
La stessa notte Leda giacque col marito Tindaro, re di Sparta e successivamente la donna depose un uovo che schiudendosi lasciò uscire i figli di Zeus, Elena e Polluce e divenne anche madre di Castore e Clitennestra, figli del consorte (il mito narra molte versioni della vicenda)

Curiosità: Palazzo Altieri e il borgo di Oriolo Romano, costituiscono un armonico complesso coordinato secondo criteri di pianificazione urbanistica moderna (per l'epoca). L’edificio signorile, con i suoi tre piani, si edifica su una grande piazza , dalla quale si diparte un perfetto tridente di strade rettilinee lungo il quale si allineano le case del borgo. Evidente è il richiamo al tridente di strade che parte da Piazza del Popolo a Roma.

Curiosity: Palazzo Altieri and the village of Oriolo Romano constitute a harmonious complex coordinated according to modern urban planning criteria (for the time). The stately building, with its three floors, towers over a large square (which is accessed by a double flight of stairs from the underlying Via Clodia), from which a perfect trident of straight streets branches off along which the houses of the village. The reference to the trident of streets that starts from Piazza del Popolo in Rome is evident.
