Hello to all Splinterlands friends!!!
The new game mode that the entire community has been talking about in recent days is finally available on the website: Survival Mode! This new ranked game mode is now added to the well-known Modern and Wild formats.
However, this new mode is completely different from any other gaming experience we’ve had so far. It focuses on the strategic management of your card collection rather than just building a single team for each battle. One of its main goals is to give new value to older cards and encourage players to own multiple copies of the new cards as well, rather than just upgrading them with the highest possible BCX.
To play, you don’t need to spend any Energy, so in theory, you can play as many matches as you want. However, you need to consider that some of the monsters defeated in battle will go into Cooldown, meaning a period of time in which they cannot be used.
This table gives you an idea of the Cooldown times based on the rarity and upgrade level of your card:
If you want to see which of your cards are in Cooldown, you can click on "Survival Mode Depleted" in the drop-down menu under the "Items" section, as shown in this picture:
After clicking on a card, you can hover over the red symbol shown in the image below to see the approximate number of days of Cooldown:
I played a few matches, and the first word that comes to mind is: Devastating!
Psychologically, the pressure of deploying cards that you might not be able to use for days makes you choose monsters you rarely use, or haven’t used in years, perhaps because they are from old editions.
But then, on the battlefield, you see that your opponents are very competitive (as is the case in almost every online game nowadays), and you end up taking a lot of hits and losing battles badly.
The SPS rewards for winning in this mode are still very low, which might raise many questions for players trying this new feature for the first time.
In my opinion, this is still an experimental phase, or rather a launch phase, for Survival Mode. The team is likely waiting for player feedback to decide what to change—whether to add something, perhaps more rewards, to incentivize playing such a risky mode, or to remove something, maybe by reducing the Cooldown time, which currently seems excessively long.
Defeated cards can be revived using resurrection potions, but we will learn more about this later as this game mode is refined.

È finalmente disponibile sul sito, il nuovo formato di gioco di cui tutta la comunità sta parlando nelle ultimi giorni, ovvero della Survival Mode, una nuova modalità di gioco classificata (ranked) che si aggiunge alle già ben note Modern e Wild.
Però questa nuova modalità è completamente diversa da qualsiasi altra esperienza di gioco che abbiamo provato finora, incentrata sulla gestione strategica della propria collezione di carte, piuttosto che solo sulla costruzione di un singolo team per ogni battaglia: è proprio questo uno dei obiettivi dichiarati, ovvero dare nuova utilità alle carte più vecchie e incentivare i giocatori a possedere più copie anche delle nuove carte, più che potenziare le stesse con più BCX possibili.
Per giocare, non si spende alcun Energy, quindi, in teoria si possono fare quante partite vogliamo, c'è però da considerare che alcune dei mostri caduti in battaglia andranno in Cooldown, ovvero un periodo di tempo in cui non possono essere usate.
Questa tabella può darvi qualche indicazioni sui tempi di Cooldown, a seconda della rarità e del livello di potenziamento della vostra carta:
Se volete vedere quali sono le vostre carte in Cooldown, potete cliccare su "Survival Mode Depleted", nel menù a tendina della sezione "Items", come vedete in questa foto:
Dopo aver cliccato una carta, potete portare il mouse sopra il simbolo rosso che vedete in questa foto in basso, per vedere il numero di giorni approssimativo di Cooldown:
Io ho provato qualche partita e il primo aggettivo che mi viene alla mente è: Devastante !
Psicologicamente, la pressione di schierare carte che potresti non usare più per giorni, ti porta a scegliere mostri che usi poco, o che non usi più da anni, perchè magari di vecchie edizioni.
Ma poi, sul campo di battaglia, vedi che gli avversari sono molto competitivi ( come ormai in qualsiasi ambito su internet), e ti ritrovi a prendere un sacco di mazzate, e a perdere le sfide malamente.
I premi in SPS per la vittoria in questa modalità sono ancora molto basse, cosa che forse può far porre tante domande ai giocatori che si approcciano per la prima volta a questa novità.
Secondo me è ancora una fase sperimentale, possiamo dire di lancio, per la Survival Mode, in cui lo staff sta aspettando la reazione dei giocatori per vedere cosa cambiare, se fare delle aggiunte, magari nei premi, per incentivare la scelta di giocare una modalità così rischiosa, oppure cosa togliere, magari giorni ai Cooldown, che mi sembrano esagerati come quantità di tempo.
Le carte sconfitte potranno essere rianimate utilizzando pozioni di resurrezione, ma di questo scopriremo più in seguito, quando questa modalità di gioco verrà perfezionata.

Speriamo, dai, deve essere dato un incentivo per rischiare di non usare le proprie carte , in alcuni casi, per settimane intere !
That cool down period makes it really tough! Once you use it it may be unusable for a few days. I haven't tried it out yet, but it should be interesting. Hopefully it will give my old cards some more utility, most have lost almost all of their value already. Great post!

For some cards the cooldown is 12-13 days, almost two weeks of not using that card!
