Splinterlands - opportunity ruleset and quora towershead monster usage

Hello battlers,

I am feeling I am unable to contribute much to the community engagement challenges for the new challenges since few weeks as I am not having the assets required for those.

For example, we have land related challenge this week and I do not own any land and hence, I decided to write one more blog on social media challenge with a battle shared for opportunity ruleset where, the monsters will always target the monster with lowest health first.

But, we do have some monsters which can disrupt this ruleset and those monsters are with the taunt ability which will attract all the attack towards them and this will override the opportunity ability.

Opportunity ruleset sets all the monsters targeting the monster on other side with lowest health first and then next lowest health one and so on and this also provides an opportunity to all the monsters irrespective of melee or ranged or magic to attack from any position.

We know ranged and magic monsters attack from all positions, but melee attack monsters either attack from front or second position if those have reach ability. But, with opportunity ruleset, we can use all 6 melee attack monsters and those can attack from any position.

The battle I am sharing with opportunity ruleset also had cripple ruleset where, with each attack, the health will be reduced by one and this battle for which, the link is shared above, is with 36 mana cap limit and I used earth splinter for this with guild monster enabled with usage of a summoner with bloodlust enabled.

Here I share the monsters I used.

1. Mycelic Slipspawn:

Like I said, opportunity ruleset battle can be overridden with usage of a monster with taunt ability and that gives us diverting all the attack towards this taunt ability monster and we can keep healing it with a monster which has tank heal ability.

Mycelic slipswapn is with taunt ability and it also has forcefield ability which enables it to take just one attack from monsters which have 5 or more attacks.

2. Chaos Agent:

Used this in second position for any possible blast attack, but there wasn't any. It doesn't have any attack, but has dodge and phase abilities which makes it hard to hit by melee and ranged attack monsters.

3. Hill Giant:

image.png

Hill Giant is a preferred monster for such opportunity ruleset battles because of it's good health of 8 for just 3 mana cost and can provide 2 melee attack and more importantly, it has stun ability which keeps a monster silent for a round if stun is applied.

4. Quora Towershead:

This was an all important monster in my lineup as it has dual attack of magic and melee and with opportunity ruleset, it can use both attack types and it is also a bloodlust monster, so every time it removes a monster, it's stats will increase and gets +1 attack and it is also a monster which has healing ability and also immunity ability to avoid any negative effects on it.

5. Goblin Psychic:

Since I used a taunt ability monster at the front, I decided to use this tank heal monster which also has affliction and silence abilities to reduce the magic attack from other side and stops healing from monsters it attacks.

6. Mycelic Morphoid:

The last monster in the lineup was a 1 mana cost monster of mycelic morphoid which has thorns but it's health is just 2 and will not survive many rounds. I used this for it's 2 melee attack for 2 mana cost.

Battle:

The battle was a good one and use of taunt ability monster in the front was helpful for me and even opponent had used same monster in second position and stun monster of hill giant kept it silent for couple of rounds.

Quora towershead was more helpful for me in winning the battle as it removed few monsters and in the process, it gained more and more stats with each monster it removed.

When opponent had 3 monsters, I was left with only quora towershead, but with immunity, healing and bloodlust, it was always better than those 3 monsters left for opponent and finished battle on winning side.

By the end when battle finished in round 6, quora had gained 7 melee attack and 7 magic attack and health got increased to 15!!!!

These bloodlust monsters are always better options and quora once it starts gaining stats, it's very difficult to stop it.

Thanks, this is all I share in this battle. I hope you have land and participating in community engagement challenge.
