You should always avoid Scouts, as they have very low selling prices.
Tonics are a bit better, but lately not so much (95% of the times I get vials of insight, which aren't worth much...).
Best options are Vista Trove (usually their unlock cost is lower than the higher buy order on the market) and Forge Sigils, because you can get some of the best drops from there.
Usually I check how much in Hive I need to spend to unlock a reward and than check what's the average price for rewards of the same type and rarity on the market: if I see a good opportunity I go for it!
For this reason levveling up your Prestige is crucial, as it allows you to get rarer items, which usually have higher selling prices.
