What Are the Most Profitable Niche on Hive?

in Olio di Balena18 hours ago

I was reading a post today where the creator discussed niching and mentioned a few niches that appeared to be trending and paying well for creators who target and create content in those areas.

It was intriguing, so I decided to leave a comment. I informed the creator that niches will come and go, and they are essentially seasonal. This means that it is difficult to find a niche that will continue to reward creators for years without losing relevance or impact.

When I first joined the chain, there was a trend of creating content about the chain. The reason for the craze was that the majority of people at the time were new to the chain.

The chain itself (formerly Steemit) was new, and most of those who signed up had no idea what they were getting into. Anyone who had any idea or information about what the chain was and how it worked was regarded as a genius and upvoted to the trending page for visibility.

Nowadays, the core population of the chain understands what the chain is all about, and no one wants that information anymore. Although we had stats-related content, the craze for them was not as strong as it once was.

Art as a niche

A few years later, art came into play. Anyone who could use watercolors or draw contours on paper with a canvas surface was voted to the trending pages. As a result, many creators channeled their inner Davinci and emerged as overnight artists.

It was absolute bonkers during the 2021 bull run, and many users even became digital artists to get a piece of the action. We had a lot of big account curators, but unfortunately, some of these accounts are no longer active and cannot cater to creators who have turned artists.

Why niches die after trending for so long

I think these big sized accounts that are now powered down has made art a less lucrative niche.

I do not believe people suddenly lose interest. I believe a niche is only as profitable as the whale/orca/dolphin accounts that support it, and when this population is no longer present, a niche loses its psychological appeal, and the creators who provide content on the niches will either stop creating or return to what they were previously creating.

The three biggest niches on Hive right now are Vibes, spendHBD Holozing. These niches were either non-existent or in the early stages of development a year ago, but now they exist, and hundreds of creators are flocking in to get a piece of the action.

@3speak and @theycallmedan deserve special mention for their significant contributions to these niches.

These niches are alive because they are powered up and are constantly increasing their stake. I think more niches will be born if newer niches can become a spin-off from the support gotten from these accounts for years.

However, this is the problem.

Sometimes niches rely on a few large accounts to function, and it is unfortunate when these big accounts go down and the niches become obsolete, and the accounts that have received that support over the years are unable to use the stake they have earned to keep the niche alive and functioning.

How Can You Participate In These Trending Niches?

Well, SPENDHBD and Holozing are pretty simple. For the former, you must spend HBD and purchase items in a physical store while also creating a video or proof of activity. I believe making a comprehensive video is preferable.

@alex-rourke is a perfect example of someone who makes the best spendHBD content. I have never seen a better spendHBD post than the one he makes. It is comprehensive, beautiful, and sharp, and it is the ideal commercial video for Hive. So, you can actually join this niche, but you must be very creative to attract attention.

As for Holozing you just simply need to participate in the project, spend a couple bucks here and there and create contents on it.

Vibes is where it gets a little tricky. So you will need actual talent for this one. You will most likely need a good voice, the ability to play one or more musical instruments, technical skills to edit videos, and knowledge of a studio owner in your area.

These things will propel you to the top. There are some incredible prizes to be won, making it undoubtedly the most sought-after niche in Hive.

I believe there is no harm in hustling for niches; sometimes it is better to be a little creative when creating a diverse niche. The only disadvantage is that creating content for specific niches may require some level of specialization or skill.

When you lack that talent or skill set, you will never be able to compete with the best or stand out.

Thanks for the shoutout friend!

Feel free to share any of my videos showing people how to create an account, how to set up Keychain, how to use any of the tools on HIVE. If you'd like a specific walkthrough, just ask and I'll be happy to put one together for you.

Indeed. I think your posts are some of the best when it comes to "how-to" and that's why I make reference to them. Of course, I'll share. I'll have the links ready and I'll always point it out when someone has to navigate through onboarding.

We'll make a bunch of outward facing content in 2025. X will blow up and so will the Hive Ecosystem 🚀🚀🚀

Thanks a million

A pleasure 🙃

You’ve touched on an excellent topic. I’ve thought about this before as well. I’ve seen firsthand how, in 2021, hundreds or even thousands of Telegram and YouTube channels with so-called "expert" traders were created. People flocked to them like moths to a flame and burned out along with these "experts." Maybe it’s not the best comparison, but it’s what comes to mind when considering trends and the moods of the masses.

What I mean is that if you keep adapting to every trend and niche that appears and fades, you become dependent on those moods—whether it’s the trend itself, the crowd’s opinion, or the curator’s preferences. In doing so, you lose yourself, your uniqueness, and deprive the world of the diversity you could bring by pursuing something you genuinely enjoy and find fulfilling.

To me, it’s more interesting to create a trend or stick to your own path. If it’s useful, followers will come naturally. And under the right circumstances, you might even start a new trend or open a new niche, being there at its inception. Something like that. 😊

Adapting to existing niches is the easy option, but creating new niches is much more effective.

Well I think there are people whose niche is to jump on the latest and the most profitable niche on Hive and so far it has paid them. On other web2 platforms it might not result in any good results for them. On Hive when you can do it well then it'll work out. It mostly works out for those who master it. I think I have stuck to what I can or know how to do.

It’s impossible to disagree with this—being able, knowing, and I would also add—it should bring enjoyment.

Starkerz mentioned in a podcast he was on that they are working on extending Distriator/SpendHBD for online purchases.

Well that would be huge, I guess there will be more participation when this becomes actually possible online and well, nothing better then having more options.

I think vibes and music competition.

Same. Yes. They're music contests, but vibes probably gets more attention

I agree that they are seasonal. Things change over time, but I think SpendHBD makes sense because there are a lot of people who want HBD to succeed. Holozing has been out there quite a bit but I have seen it start to die down a bit. It just depends on what people want to do and eventually people move on.

You're right. I think spendHBD by all means is probably the only valuable niche on the Blockchain because it actually showcases the utility of our stable coin here. The other ones probably have no solid base and I think the only thing holding them together is the prize and whale support keeping it together.

Holozing is one of the only ones I’ve known about on this list. I know that there was an HBD community for spending in Venezuela but I didn’t know it expanded from there but it makes sense!

There will always be niches and I think it’s important that we find ones we are interested in and participate but don’t go around expecting all kinds of financial rewards. They do come and go in terms of popularity.

SpendHBD has now even grown bigger than and is now being done in more countries than before. If you click on the tag "spendHBD" you'll see hundreds of post of people using HBD to pay for goods all over the world. So it's now a widely supported niche and it's growing stronger by the day.

I can actually sing, but I feel shy to post on vibes ...

Well, you can try and make an entry someday.

I have found that the most profitable niche on Hive is the one people can be faithful over the long term in -- that is, productive longevity in a decent spot outruns everything else. I look at the biggest niches as places to visit occasionally, and I observe the trends, but they are not my wheelhouse, so I do not chase them.

I think people wants what's trending. The niches I mentioned are trending. It might be different in the next one year, but I don't really think people want to be anywhere, unless there are big whales support in that niche.

In ny opinion, travel blogs are more upvoted than arts.

I meant that back in the day, most people were interested in art. Obviously nowadays travel blog is the more curated niche, art is no longer as valued

Thanks a million 🙏🙏🎉

Well the singing is out the door for me... lol I would love to be able to spend HBD here, but there is no place that accepts it. I've got some staked into Holozing, we'll see what happens there.

I agree, niches come and go, new one are born. The fine art NFT's sure didn't last very long and many people ending up with near worthless NFT's, but the artists made out like bandits. We'll see what's next...
