Hello Splinterlands Summoners! We finished another brawl and I bought some Gladius cases and added to my Gladiator card collection. Our brawl results was not as great as last week but we still earned some decent rewards and SPS.

Brawl Performance

I had a great result in this brawl contributing six wins out of eight battles while our guild, Immortal Gods 4, ranked fourth earning 95 crowns. Each of us earned 4,976 Merits and 68 SPS.

Guild Store

I have over 9k Merits and I spent 8k to acquire four Gladius cases. Each Gladius case contain five cards with one guaranteed rare or higher. After purchasing four cases, I should have twenty cards added to my collection.

Gladius Case Opening and Upgrading a Card

Out of twenty cards, I pulled one epic, Marisol Contuma and some rares. After this, some of my cards are close to being upgraded while my epic card was upgraded to level 3 gaining one health stat. However, no new abilities was unlocked at level 3.

Featured Battle

Today's chosen battle features my Rebellion reward cards. I'm pleased that my collection has already grown at this stage while we are close to the release of the new set. The ruleset is a low mana battle but it also includes "Equalizer". It would pay to have a full line up of low mana cards. This was my thinking process in forming my team in this particular battle.

My Team

Quix the Devious (Summoner)

I had a choice between Dragon and Fire where I have great legendary Gladiator cards in Fina (Fire) or Larissa Kerato (Dragon). I picked Dragon because I can use the Light Splinter with it where I have good low mana cards.

Halfling Refugee (Tank)

One mana card dealing 3 melee damage. It has a drawback of Weary ability but it will be tanky for only one mana.

Frigid Wolf (second position)

This card was a recent acquisition I pulled from rank up reward chests. He only requires one mana but can attack from any position.

Olivia of the Brook (third position)

My favorite card and I've written some posts of my admiration for this card and her mimic ability. She is strong and fun to watch in battle as she stacks up abilities as the fight progresses.

Larissa Kerato (fourth position)

A strong damage dealer having the Double Strike ability but has a disadvantage of low health. The Equalizer ruleset offets her disadvantage and is perfect for this fight.

Venari Crystalsmith (fifth position)

A versatile card supporting the tank with Heal but also does 2 ranged damage. She only requires 4 mana and is a great choice to field in this battle.

Gallicus (sixth position)

Gallicus is my least favorite legendary card. I've written some posts of my disdain for this card because of his lack of defense and health while having the Taunt ability. I wanted to try him in battle anyway even though I have other cards at my disposal.

Opponent Team

My opponent chose the Water Splinter which also have great low mana cards. Water would be a great choice if there was also a "Rise of the Commons" ruleset because the Water Splinter has strong common and rare low mana cards. My opponent picked a great combo of Deep Lurker and Isgald Vorst. Both cards deal 4 melee damage and has the Opportunity ability. They can easily wreck an opponents low health cards. His other cards are also strong damage dealers and his tank has Healing ability.

The Battle

In the first round my Gallicus was destroyed in two hits before he can fire a shot. It's as expected given he has no armor. At least he helped my team by drawing fire from the opponent's highest damage dealers. Larissa carried my team as she eliminated several cards triggering her Bloodlust ability several times. Meanwhile, Olivia gained the Bloodlust ability herself and would have done damage but the enemy team was already depleted.

Final Thoughts

Joining a guild and participating in guild brawls is both fun and rewarding. Gladiator cards can only be acquired from the Guild Store and cannot be bought anywhere else. Only by participating in brawls can you acquire these powerful cards. However, you must also do your part and contribute in the brawl. Choose your fray well and ensure that you have the right cards to be competitive.
