Hello Splinterlands Summoners! The Frigid Wolf is a legendary Light splinter card that can be obtained from reward chests. I got one BCX from advancement reward chest. In today's post, I'll do a deep dive with its stats and abilities, role in battle and look at a sample battle.
Lore
From the Splinterlands Lore:
Wolves prowl Praetoria’s tundras, taigas, alpine forests, and other subarctic biomes. They hunt in coordinated packs, isolating and surrounding their prey before moving in for the kill.
Their loyalty is hard to earn, and they are harder still to break. However, if captured as pups, they can be trained to hunt, patrol, and serve as sentinels.
Stats and Abilities
The Frigid Wolf is a one mana legendary reward card. There is one for each splinter and the Wolf is aligned with the Light. At level one, it deals one melee damage, has two speed and two health. It will gain one health at level two and an extra speed at level three. Only at level four will it add another melee damage. What makes this card special is its Charge ability which a new one. The other one mana cards have the old abilities like Sneak, Snipe, Reach and Opportunity. The difference is Charge is not affected by Fog of War ruleset.
Role in Battle
Being a one mana card with low damage potential, it's role in battle is similar to the zero mana cards before. It's to fill in some empty slots to defend against Sneak attackers or to draw attacks from Opportunity strikes. It can also be a good unit to use in low mana battles with Equalizer ruleset. Unlike the zero mana cards before, the one mana cards can attack from any position.
Featured Battle
In the following battle, the rulesets were Fog of War, Odd Ones Out and Up Close & Personal. The ruleset severely limits the choices you can use in battle and those who have a lot of cards will have an advantage. Luckily, I have the right cards at my disposal but so does my opponent.
My Team
Franz Ruffmane (Summoner)

Franz is a good choice since this is an Up Close & Personal ruleset. Franz provides an armor to the team giving an added layer of defense. Also, I can use one of my favorite Gladiator cards, Marisol Contuma.
Uriel the Purifier (tank)

Uriel is my first choice of tank whenever I use the Light Splinter. He is both beefy with his armor and health stats complemented by his Healing ability. He is also a great damage dealer with four melee damage. With his Recharge ability, he can one-shot the enemy tank.
Marisol Contuma (second position)

Marisol is a great off tank card. He has the Reach ability making him ideal in the second position. Not only that, he is a good tank by his own having sufficient armor and health. He can deal five melee damage and has five speed and he has the Bloodlust ability common to all Gladiator cards.
Legionnaire Alvar (third position)
Legionnaire Alvar is a versatile card. He is a neutral legendary card that can be used by any splinter. He is a good tank in his own right, having high armor. Although his health stat is somewhat lacking, his Void Armor ability is great defense against magic attackers. On the offensive side, he can deal three melee damage and has the Giant Killer ability. He is also a good debuffer having the Demoralize ability which is perfect for this battle.
Halfling Refugee (fourth position)
A one mana card that I slot in to fill empty spaces but he is also a great tank in low mana battles having six health for a one mana card. At level 3, he gains the Heal ability making him tankier.
Frigid Wolf (fifth position)

I put the Frigid Wolf in the last position since he can attack from there. In case the first through third positions gets eliminated, the Halfling Refugee will serve as tank while the Frigid Wolf can still deal damage.
The Opponent's Team
My opponent picked the Water Splinter with a max level Kelya as summoner. He also used some max level cards although his Sneak attackers are not much help in this ruleset. Maybe he forgot that this is a Fog of War battle.
The Battle
Uriel once again proved his sustaining power as he stayed in battle aided by his Healing ability. The Frigid Wolf's Charge ability was not affected by the Fog of War ruleset so it was still able to attack giving my team three attackers as against the opponent's two. Soon my opponent's tanks were decimated one by one. I won the battle without losing a single unit for a perfect victory.
