A combination of the Taunt Ability and the Triage Ability

in Olio di Balena3 days ago

Since I started playing Splinterlands again, I've been trying to improve my skills in the game so I can reach higher leagues and also help my guild in Brawls. I'm currently in a guild that fights in Tier 4 Brawls, so the battles are very competitive, but so far I've managed to get great results so I'm happy that I didn't disappoint my guildmates.

The highest league I've managed to reach in Splinterlands, whether now or in the past, was the Diamond 1 league. In fact, I only managed to reach this league when I started playing recently. In the past, the highest league I could reach was the Gold league because the game was extremely competitive and I didn't have many resources to rent several powerful cards.

Although the Diamond 1 league isn't bad, my goal is to reach the Champion 1 league, a league I've always wanted to reach since I started playing Splinterlands and the reason I want to reach it is because I'll maximize my rewards in ranked battles and also earn more Advancement Tier Chests.

In my last Brawl I used an interesting strategy and with it I have achieved several victories so I will share it today.

See the Battle

It is a somewhat simple strategy, but I will explain it in detail. First let's talk about the rules of this battle which are: Weak Magic, Noxious Fumes and Equalizer.

In the Weak Magic rule all monsters will receive the ability Void Armor, this means that monsters with magical attacks will have to destroy the monster's armor first to cause damage to its health.

In the Noxious Fumes rule all monsters will be poisoned and poisoned monsters receive 2 damage at the beginning of each round until they are defeated.

In the Equalizer rule, all monsters will have the same amount of life as the monster with the most base life in the battle. This means that if there is a monster with 13 base life in the battle, then all monsters in the battle will have 13 life, just like what happened in this battle.

These rules are a bit boring and I probably wouldn't use my strategy if it weren't for the Equalizer rule since some of my monsters would be easily defeated by the Noxious Fumes rule.

For my strategy to work, I will need 1 monster with the Taunt ability and monsters that have the Triage ability to support my monster with the Taunt ability.

I chose the monster Wave Brood to be my monster with the Taunt ability and with this ability it will be the main target of my opponent's attacks, this means that my other monsters will be safe. To help the Wave Brood in the battle so that it is not easily defeated, I also selected the monsters Spirit Hoarder and Angelic Mandarin to help it. Both have the ability Triage and this means that they will heal the monster in the backline that suffered the most damage by 1/3 of its maximum life, which in this case would be the Wave Brood.

The Wave Brood will receive most of the damage in this battle, only my opponent's monsters that are in the first and second position will not attack it and will target my monster that is in the first position, so the Wave Brood will receive the attacks of my opponent's other monsters, with the exception of the Chaos Dragon since it attacks randomly because of its ability Scattershot, but this will not be a problem either because my monsters that have the ability Triage can heal my backline.

It may seem like a simple strategy but it is very effective in battles and even after 8 long rounds my Wave Brood was still alive and I managed to emerge victorious in this battle.
