Hello everyone, Welcome to my Splinterlands Social Media Challenge post. In this post, I will talk about Dumacke Orc card and my favorite strategy with it, and more, as well as an amazing battle. I hope it will be useful for you.
Dumacke Orc has the Shield Ability at level 1, the Retaliate Ability at level 5, and the Thorns Ability at level 9. Dumacke Orc is a Common card in the Neutral Unit from the soulbound edition and it costs 6 mana.
- Shield Ability : 50% less damage (rounded up) from physical attacks or 0 damage from physical attacks of 1 power.
- Retaliate Ability : 50% chance to counterattack successful melee attacks, even if defeated.
- Thorns Ability : Returns 2 physical damage to attacker when hit by a melee attack.
Lore
Dumacke was a world left to ruin after the Chaos Legions swept through it and Uul had drunk his fill of the planet's lifeblood. But life did hang on. A few creatures were able to survive in the broken and barren world. One such creature was the pale orc.
The pale orcs of Dumacke spent their lives in the lowland caves that surround the windswept plains, scavenging and living off whatever they could find. They lost their natural sight centuries ago due to a virulent strain of fever, and the genetic defect was passed on through future generations. As a result, they developed a fine sense of hearing to compensate and were completely reliant upon it until the wandering technomancer, Yaalbraith, gifted them with the Bright Eyes: goggles infused by tech that synergize with the long-dead optic nerves, enabling the pale orcs to finally see again.
However, after Yaalbraith left, as resilient as the pale orcs were, they fell into a brooding despair, believing their savior had abandoned them. That was when they came upon the Riftwatchers, who offered them sustenance, kindness, and kinship. The pale orcs of Dumacke pledged their loyalty to the' Riftwatchers' cause, knowing their newfound comrades would never desert them.
Dumacke Orc is a powerful card that can be very useful in battles against Melee and Ranged attacks with its abilities because snce it has the Shield Ability, it takes 50% less damage (rounded up) from physical attacks or 0 damage from physical attacks of 1 power.
Since it has the Retaliate and Thorns abilities, it an be much more effective against Melee attacks. Retaliate Ability has a 50% chance to counterattack successful melee attacks, even if defeated. And Thorn Ability returns 2 physical damage to attacker when hit by a melee attack.
However, Dumacke Orc only has 1 health, so a single magic attack is enough to destroy it, so using it against magic attacks is not wise at all, that's why I don't put it in first position. However, if I am sure that there will be no Units with Magic attacks on the opposing team, I will put it in the first position without hesitation because it is really difficult to destroy it with physical attacks.
I usually put Dumacke Orc in the last position, although it can't attack from the backline, it can be very useful in hunting down Melee attackers with Sneak Ability or Opportunity Ability. The reason I put it in the last position is because Units with the Sneak Ability target the enemy unit in the last position. And Units with the Opportunity Ability target the enemy unit with the least health, they will target Dumacke Orc as it only has 1 health. It is a strategy that works very well against physical attacks most of the time, especially melee attacks, but since the retaliation chance is 50%, it can sometimes not work so well. Especially if the enemy Sneak or Opportunity Units have magic attacks, my strategy fails, but this is not a situation I encounter very often, but I always review my opponents' recent 5 battles and when I see such a risk, I never add Dumacke Orc to my team anyway.
Let's examine my favorite strategy with Dumacke Orc in a battle.
- Armored Up: All units gain +2 armor.
- Deflection Field: All units have Reflection Shield (0 damage from Blast splash damage and Punishment abilities—Corrosive Ward, Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns).
According to the ruleset of the battle, all Units in the battle will have the Reflection Shield Ability and +2 Armor. Actually I have the level 9 Dumacke Orc card, but since all enemies in this battle will have Reflection Shield Ability, Thorns Ability will be useless and I wanted to add Dragons to my team, so I chose Helios Matriarch as the Summoner. However, my Helios Matriarch card is at level 5, so I will be able to use my Dumacke Orc card at level 6. I am aware that I need to upgrade my Helios Matriarch card soon as well, I plan on upgrading it to level 7 in early 2025.
Before starting the battle, when I reviewed the recent 5 battles of the opponent player, I knew that the opponent player would prefer Units with Sneak Ability, so I put Dumacke Orc in the last position. Although Dumacke Orc cannot attack while in the backline, I can say that I put it in the last position without hesitation because it will take less damage thanks to the Shield Ability and has a 50% chance to retaliate thanks to the Retaliate ability.
I added Katrelba Gobson and Dhampir Infiltrator, who have Double Strike and Sneak abilities, to my team because I believed that it would be easier to destroy the enemies starting from the last position, frankly, I had full confidence that they would be very effective in this battle. They would also have the Reflection Shield Ability, so they would not take damage back from the Thorns. By the way, another reason I put Dumacke Orc in last position was to prevent Katrelba Gobson and Dhampir Infiltrator from being the first target of Units with Sneak and Opportunity. I also included the Protect Ability in my lineup as I thought the extra armor would be very useful in this battle, so all Units on my team will have an extra +2 armor.
Round 1
The opposing player's strategy was also good, but I can say that I was glad that the opposing player's lineup did not include Shield and Retaliate, because at the beginning of the battle, it was obvious that Katrelba Gobson and Dhampir Infiltrator's attacks would be quite effective. To be honest, I already knew that I would win this battle the moment I saw the opposing team.
In the first round, Dumacke Orc did not retaliate against Vruz but showed no mercy to Katrelba Gibson and retaliated against it and destroyed its armor. And Katrelba Gobson and Dhampir Infiltrator dealt serious damage to Mycelic Slipspawn.
Round 2
In the second round, Dumacke Orc retaliated again to Katrelba Gobson's attack and destroyed it. And Katrelba Gobson and Dhampir Infiltrator's brutal attacks continued to devastate the enemies.
Round 3
In the third round, the opposing team's Queen Mycelia was also destroyed, which also meant that the opposing team's hopes of winning were also destroyed.
Round 4
In the fourth round, Thane Newsong and Lurking Puffer were also destroyed and my team was able to win the battle.
The battle lasted 4 rounds, my strategy worked pretty well and my team won the battle pretty easily, to be honest I didn't expect to win the battle that easily my team did a really great job. I can say that especially putting Dumacke Orc in the last position was very useful and allowed me to win the battle easily.
Dumacke Orc is a really amazing card and can be very useful in battles when used with good strategy, the battle above was a good example of this. Another thing I like about Dumacke Orc is that it is a Neutral card, because I have the chance to include it in my strategy in almost every battle, unless the battle's ruleset prevents it.
