Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) is a coin in splinterlands game and it was part of reward also earlier. The change has happended and now its removed from reward pool but this was done before my joining in the game. I am not new on hive but with splinterlands I have completed slightly more than 1 year. This change was done before my entry in game so I never got DEC as game reward. Wish I could have joined earlier but no worries because even now SPS is good. We can not earn DEC anymore in the game but there is one way that can get you DEC earning opportunity.
This option is the rental market where you can earn DEC for renting your cards. There are other option also and I don't know how this option is displayed to choose the payment currency. As a player who is taking cards on the rent I see the other option including the DEC. Still this token is valuable in the game ecosystem because we can use for buying various stuff in the game and also we can use it for the payment towards the rent. Rent is a bigger option in the game where we can take any card on the rent and using this token we can make the payment also. Although there are many other options we can choose from but I feel that this is a good one for me because I get this token on the discount and then I use the same for payment also.
I was just going through the market updates for this token where I can see that the price is gradually going up. Actually to be honest this price increase is not making me happy because I need to buy the coconut higher price and I was very happy to buy it below $0.70 for 1000 tokens. What if I say that I have got this token at very heavy discount at some point of time when the cost was around $0.65 for 1000 tokens. Now technically I need to pay about $0.85 for the same amount of token and which is really expensive for me but still it is on discount.
Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) are the primary currency for most things in the Splinterlands shop and marketplace. Use them to purchase magical items, potions, and cards!
Like I said this token can be used in the game for almost everything purchased and this is why it is still important part of the game. It is not part of the reward pool so we cannot earn but through the rental we can surely generate some reward but for that you need to have a good card collection. You are not using your card for the gameplay then you can use those cards to list on the market for rent and this can get you some token as rental income. This token is a stable coin up the game where the value of 1000 coins is expected to be $1 but that is not the case this time. Currently this has not been there for a long time but a few months back we have seen it being there and maybe it is still on its way to be there soon. I can not predict the price because I don't know more about the market sentiment.
I have paid a big amount on the rental market because I renewed all the cards for 30 days in rental market. I make the payment through the DEC token only so I keep on buying time to time and even now I have over fourteen thousand dark energy crystals in my account. I wanted to reserve a pool for hundred thousand tokens but I could not. Maybe in future I can do that which will help me to manage rentals easily for my gameplay.
Conclusion
If I need to summarise the overall then I would say that Dec is still a valuable part of the game. If you can buy more then it's good because it can help you get many other things in the building including the rental option which you can also consider because I do and I like doing it. No financial advice about it but if you are into the game then holding more DEC can help you a lot but suggest you to go through all the aspects before you take some investing decisions. I did it because I believe it but does not mean that everyone else will think the same so I recommend you to cheque out all the aspect about it before doing this.
