Recently I have made the leap into sport climbing (roped climbing, clipping the rope in as I go along) and I have been adjusting my training regimen to improve my endurance, one problem....
There are too few gyms that do roped climbing in London.
If I cannot train on roped climbing often, how can I train for sport climbing at all with just having bouldering gyms surrounding me? Step in the circuit board. The circuit board consists of routes that follow a sequence around the board (clockwise, counter clockwise etc) from start to finish, it is a fantastic and easily accessible method of training your endurance.
I often do nonstop climbing on some easy routes for intervals of 4 to 10 mins with the same duration of rest between sets For those who are starting out and looking to improve climbing stamina, I do recommend a 1 min on and 1 min off protocol to help out build endurance.
try it out sometime, maybe gamify it see what is the longest you can last for on each difficulty of routes offered at your climbing gym!
