The Deranged Photography Contest is back
Man, it has been a long time since I have hosted my Deranged Photography Contest, but it is good to be back. Now that we have the new Liketu front end that focuses on photography, I have been trying to come up with different ways to get more photography posts over on there. So this contest is going to be held exclusively on the Liketu front end.
@elmerlin and the rest of the Liketu team have been working hard behind the scenes to update the website and make it more user friendly and better than ever.
There have been a lot of visual upgrades to the Liketu frontend. Previously, post payouts were not displayed, but now you can see them easily on Liketu. The cover images also don't have any text displayed on them, which allows you to see the whole image.
The comment section is also getting overhauled. Previously, you weren't able to reply to comments and essentially make a comment thread while on Liketu, but that has been addressed. You can also scroll through the images in posts a lot easier.
Another thing that a lot of people were concerned about when Liketu first came out was the Liketu watermarks on the photos that were uploaded, but the watermarks are being removed when viewed on the Liketu frontend. The watermarks were put there at first to draw people to your profile on Liketu and bring people to the chain if they found them on the internet.
Another thing that is changing is that you will be able to post into other communities and your posts won't be only in the Liketu community. So you can make your post on Liketu and share it to whatever community you want it to be in.
All these changes will be going into effect hopefully within the next week. The team is still working on optimizing the site and working out the bugs before rolling out with the new look and changes.
OK, so why Liketu?
Well, photography was the main reason I came to Steem back in the day and the main reason I am here on Hive. I see Liketu as one of the easiest bridges for people into sharing their photography with the world and really taking ownership of their content.
So, the Deranged Photography Contest will be held solely on Liketu in an effort to raise awareness to the Liketu platform and increase engagement there. Liketu is a photography focused platform and a familiar way for people to get onto the Hive blockchain and share their work.
How is the Deranged Photography Contest set up?
Every Sunday, I will announce a new theme for the week and you will have until Friday to get your submission in. There will be two tiers for the contest. A professional tier and an amateur tier. When making your submission, you must state which tier you will be competing in. I usually get a lot of entries, so make sure to follow all the rules or else your submission won't count and will likely be ignored.
I will not allow any entry that is not your own original photography. If you are caught plagiarizing someone else's work, you will be flagged and banned from participating in any future contest. So make sure that the photos you are submitting are ones that you personally take.
All entries must be done through the Liketu front end. One of the goals of the contest is to create more awareness of Liketu, so make sure that you create your post from https://liketu.com/.
You only get one entry per week, so make sure to spend some time on getting a good photo and creating a fun post about your entry. You will need to submit a link to your post in the comment section of the contest announcement post and you will need to include at least one image from your post in the comment you make. You are encouraged to share more than one image in your post. The more effort you put into your post, the more chance you have for curation and possibly winning your tier.
On top of a chance for curation from Liketu, the top three entries in each tier will be awarded as follows:

Rules overview
- Your entry must be made on Liketu.
- No plagiarism. If you are caught plagiarizing, you will be flagged and banned from future contest.
- You must state the tier you are competing in, Professional or Amateur.
- You must comment on the weekly contest announcement post with a link to your entry and at least one photo from your post.
The rules are pretty easy, so make sure to follow them or your entry will be ignored. Now onto the first theme for the contest!
Pets
The first theme for the contest is going to be pets. If you have been following me, you know that I love my pets. I also love to see your pets or pictures that you take of someone else's pets. So go and grab your cameras and start snapping some pictures of your little ones.
One of the coolest things about Hive is seeing pets from all over the world. I am looking forward to seeing your little loved ones. Thank you for your participation in the contest and don't forget to follow the rules to make sure your entry is valid.

Hi @Dreangedvisions, this is my entry to the contest. Honestly, I messed up making the post on Liketu.com, the images wouldn't load and disappeared, I assumed they were already loaded and published the post. Then I realized that the images didn't load, I wanted to edit but the page was giving me errors, well, everything was a disaster, and it was almost midnight. In the end, I edited from Peakd to add the images. I hope when I make a second post on Liketu I will have better luck.

How should we define a professional photographer? I certainly don't consider myself one, so this entry is for amateur. It's a hella hard to photograph my pets with the DSLR, as they don't pose for long enough to give me time. However, this time I was lucky.

Great to see this contest returning. I remember winning more than once in the past. I haven't been really active in photography for a looooonggg time, but with more and more contests, and my favorite contest returning. It's maybe the best motivation to get shooting once again. And pets ... yah, that's a subject I love the most.

It is best to use photos that you have not posted before because it is frowned upon to recycle content if the photos you are reusing will make up the majority of the post.
