Final thoughts on "Identity" as we head into the next challenge
In my last post, I challenged you to think about your identity and share with us something which identifies you quite well. I hope it was a useful exercise, least not an opportunity to self-reflect.
When dealing with photos, I often scroll through my archives and look at photos of myself, and I can't believe how different I used to be, and how differently I used to identify myself. I think this is something younger people experience as they transition from adolescence to later adulthood. Changes are the most apparent in your early years, and more regimented in the later.
As we move from interacting in the tangible world, into the less intangible world that is the internet, I believe we'll all have the same progression of identity. Heck, I think many of us will treat it like the freshers week at college and try re-invent ourselves entirely. Some may balk at the idea of having multiple or split identities, if you watched James McAvoy in "Split", you'll appreciate people's concerns. Me on the other hand, I think it's just a natural adaptation to an ever evolving landscape.
Humans adapt to the surroundings we must spend most of our time in. Where are most people spending their time now? Exacerbated by the pandemic? The internet. Perhaps the "metaverse" really is best defined by a point in time instead of some virtual space.
NFTs really hit this home for myself personally. As a huge #hivepunks fan, I've realised that trophy items online mean quite a lot more to me than offline. Heck, I spent over $20,000 buying just one. I can assure, I own no other single item worth nearly as much.
Says quite a few things doesn't it?
While it is early days at Liketu, I expect as time goes by, our identities here and on Hive will mature and I'm looking forward to getting to know what you're all about through your posts.
Thank you to @kws-squitoz and @kwsnomzys for taking part in yesterdays challenge. I've sent you each a random punk for your troubles!
Challenge #3 - Friendship
Today's challenge is about friendship. This is another form of human interaction that has benefitted from metaversey advancements. As we spend more time on the internet away from "real life", the relationships we form begin to draw in themes from metaphysics. Do we need to see what the person we're interacting with online in order to be friends? Do we need to know their name? Their gender? How old they are? Ask me these questions 2 decades ago, and I probably couldn't even understand the scope of the question. But today, I spend more time interacting with people online, than I do offline. A very significant portion of my "friends" I've never even met in real life. And yes, I even have friends who I have no idea what they look like, I know them by their internet handle, and I don't really care that I know very little about their "real" identity.
But today, I want to draw attention to friendships in the tangible sense of the word. Because maybe, (like Petrol cars), we might be on the verge of displacing real life relationships with online ones and it would be a shame to "cross over" into the metaverse forgetting the old fashion way of human interaction.
The first picture I've included in this set, is the earliest picture I could find of me and my friend @Has-K. It was taken probably exactly 10 years ago. While this wasn't the time we became friends, it reminded me how much of a friendship we actually share. Only a handful of people know this, but @has-k is my partner at Liketu. Those of you who spoke with us at Steem Fest Krakow would have met us both. There are so many things to credit @has-k with, but he is so humble that he'll probably never really take credit for the immense amount of impact he has made not only to Liketu, but to all of our endeavours over the years.
I won't delve too much into his story as it is his to tell, and I'm sure he will make some posts soon when he's not too busy working on Liketu behind the scenes.
Before I forget
The next challenge is to share a picture of you and your best friend. Tell us a bit about how your friendship came to be, and what makes them special to you. If you get them to join hive and make a post on liketu, i'll send them a welcoming NFT too! (10 up for grabs in this challenge!)
Cheers!

Amazing work man! I wish this community will grow fast, you really deserve it 😀
Thank you! I hope it will become valuable to all the people who missed out or skipped on Hive. It would be great to see a great number of "normies" here, and to that goal, my endeavours will lie.
