Are second hand shops quite a normal thing where you live? I hardly see any at all now, it seems most people are just buying cheap products, using them till they are broken, then buying new ones.

Yes, second-hand shops are normal for people around here.
It's great to see people re-using items.
Over here, we do have charity shops which sell second hand items, and also recycling "bins" which I use to donate my old clothes to.
Well, donating is also recycling.
