¡Hola hivers!💜

Hi hivers! 💜

I hope you are well and happy. A few days ago we got together as a family to make hallacas for our family dinner on the 24th. We were my mom, my brother, his girlfriend and his girlfriend's parents. We all got together to make the hallacas.

Hallacas are part of the traditional Christmas dish in Venezuela, they are similar to a tamale according to what I have read. There are many versions of it throughout Venezuela, in this case we made it oriental style. I've made them Caracas style before, but that's another story.

Making hallacas, beyond making them and enjoying a delicious dish, is an event that brings together many Venezuelan families, where they not only make them, but also enjoy and share them as a family. There are families that even have positions on what each one does, if one cleans the leaves, another one ties, another one moves the stew. In our case, we all did a little bit of everything since it was the first time we did this together and there were only a few hallacas.

I hope to repeat the experience in the company of loved ones.
Thank you for reading me
With love, G.
