White Lotus 白莲

While I was jogging in the park the other day, I came across the pond and saw white lotus blossoms in it.

I was taken by surprises because white lotus is quite rare in this part of the country. Actualy, since I was very young, I have hardly seen any white lotuses, though I have always known their existence. I was born and raised in a province, which is known for thousands of lakes, and lotus flowers are a common sight. Most of them are pink, or rather light pink. White lotus flowers, though beautiful, are not that common.

So I stopped and took out the phone to take some photos of them, so beautiful and pure, standing out from the green leaves. Lotus is known to its pureness, uprightness, and unbendingness, despite the fact that they grow out of dirty muds. So they are compared to people with the same good character. There is a famous Chinese saying which goes as: rise unsullied from mud; remain undefiled in spite of general corruption.

I do love the white lotus flowers and hope to see more of them, before they turn into seeds. That is why I decide to run every morning in the park, to appreciate their beauty and smell the fragrance.
