As the summer heat intensified, our team at work decided it was the perfect time for a beach outing. It has been 5 years since our last getaway. We wanted a place where we could relax, bond, and create lasting memories together with our families. Medellin, Cebu, known for its beautiful beaches and serene ambiance, was the ideal destination. An overnight stay was planned, and excitement buzzed through our office in the days leading up to the trip.
I invited my officemates to have breakfast at my house on Saturday morning, which served as our meeting place. We departed around 9:00 AM, with carpooling arrangements ensuring everyone could join the fun. The scenic drive to Medellin was filled with laughter and anticipation. Despite getting lost along the way, the experience was fun and adventurous for us. When we arrived at the resort, the sight of the crystal-clear waters and the pristine sandy shore instantly put us in vacation mode. Our chosen beach resort was cozy yet spacious enough to accommodate our group, complete with comfortable rooms and amenities perfect for our needs.
After a quick check-in, we gathered at the beach, to take our mandatory group picture and TikTok videos. After our fun photoshoots, we prepared our food that needed to be grilled while watching our kids enjoy basking in the sand and swinging the swing while waiting for the sun to calm down.
As the sun began to set, we gathered around for a barbecue dinner. The aroma of grilled seafood and meat filled the air, and soon enough, we were all enjoying a delicious meal together. Stories were shared, and laughter echoed around our campsite, highlighting the camaraderie that made our office team feel more like family.
No Filipino gathering is complete without karaoke, and our beach outing was no exception. With a vast selection of songs, everyone got a chance to showcase their singing talents—or at least their enthusiasm. From power ballads to classic hits, the performances were both entertaining and heartwarming. Families joined in, with kids shyly taking the mic at first but soon singing their hearts out.
The combination of the cool night breeze, the sound of waves gently crashing on the shore, and our impromptu concert created an unforgettable ambiance. We sang, danced, and enjoyed each other’s company late into the night. The bonfire provided warmth and a perfect spot for some toasting marshmallows and making s’mores.
The next morning, we woke up to the calming sound of the ocean. Some of us took early morning walks along the beach, while others enjoyed a peaceful swim. Breakfast was a relaxed affair, with everyone slowly gathering their belongings and taking a few more photos to capture the last moments of our trip.
As we packed up and prepared to head back to the city, there was a collective feeling of contentment. The outing had not only been a fantastic break from our routine but had also strengthened our bonds as a team and with our families. The beauty of the beach, the fun activities, and the unforgettable karaoke sessions under the stars made it a perfect retreat. Here’s to more such adventures and the wonderful memories they bring!
